This guy in my hometown has a 86 R with the 310 kit, fmf gold fatty, extended swingarm, etc. He said he wanted to drag the Cannibal. We did it on pavement. He smoked me on the start. I wheelied like crazy. He had 2 lengths on me. I passed him, and ended up with 3 lengths at 300 yards. He said it wasn't running right! LOL. I rode it, before we raced, it was strong, but I wasn't too impressed. I wouldn't trade him!

BlackBird,

With your lights on for safety you should mount a HORN so he'll know your coming and can get out of the way.

Smitty

PS did you ever resolve the problem?

No Smitty, I haven't. I am going to have to take it back to the dealership again. One of the headlights blew today. I figure it was from the overcharging. Some guys on another thread warned me that the headlights would eventually go. Just one blew so far though. I guess I'll leave it there until they do something besides replace the bulb. I may rod the hell out of it with the lights off and ruin another battery. That way they might realize there really is a problem.

Was the 310 set up for MX?

I raced, and beat a piped Raptor this weekend, and even a piped Banshee... It was dark, I had no lights, and when we took off, I couldn't tell how far we were goin since it was my first time out at 14min place. I was ahead of the shee but it might have been spinnin to much. The next day I outran a piped Raptor and I also got outrun by a piped Raptor (not sure if anything else was done to it), so I'm a little confused. Maybe next time I go out there, it will be a little better as far as weather is conserned and we will get a little better comparison. Hopefully I'll have a pipe and remappin done too.

So is your cannibal stock? With the pipe and remapping, you will blow that raptor away!

Yeah, I'm all stock. The weather was kind of weird since there was rain completely surrounding the Weatherford/Aledo area but none made it to Aledo, or the TQRA in Weatherford on Saturday and then lots of rain on Sunday, so I don't know if he had the Raptor tuned completely right cause I'll say this (and it kills me to), a fine tuned piped Raptor, banshee, and DS are FAST. I was expecting Roostinonyou to pull a better lead on me but once again, the weather played a big part. He was killin me earlier in the morning and than the last time we raced, he really didn't beat me by that much so I know he wasn't runnin like he normally does, but he has the fastest quad out of the ones that were still left on Sunday. Unless that black Banshee was faster... but I'm not real sure about that... never saw them race.

Oh, almost forgot. I'll probably be slower next time I go out there because I'll have 18" tires... but I'm still trying to decide on whether I should go with a smaller rear sprocket or not. If I do, I'm gonna have it where the gearing is the same as if I had 20" tires... I got plenty of acceleration, I just need the cornering advantage.

YoDaddy,

What gear do you start out in? I can't seem to keep the front end down in first or second. I am talking about pavement, with the stock holeshots. I lost A LOT of time on the start because I had to let off the gas to keep from going straight up!

I always start in 1st. A lot of people try to tell me to start off in 2nd but I think theirs just taps out to fast but the cannondale will rev out a lot more so it's kind of a "waste of gear" in a way to start off in 2nd on the Dales. The Cannondales will rev to the moon so I just start in 1st and rev the **** out of it. I lean way forward and if I don't wheely a lot, I can beat any mx quad out of the gate. Unfortunately I don't have as much power as most of them so I have to shift perfectly to beat them.

But I don't see any reason to start in 2nd gear. As long as you lean forward enough, you shouldn't have to much problems on the dirt. On the pavement, I usually pop my front end up through the first 3 gears and sometimes even in 4th if I"m drag racing someone and leanin way back. Starting in 3rd is just crazy... you just pass up a lot of power that is much more usable and will get you goin a lot faster.
