Any one still having trouble with the ball joints?
#1
I was racing last weekend. First time in two weeks, my dealer had my Cannibal trying to fix the stalling problem. Any way I made it to the last lap and just went down a nice smooth hill, went to turn and the left lower ball joint falls apart. It has no signs of wear but it just fell apart. This and the fact that it still stalls for no apparent reason and then won't start with out cranking for over two minutes is making me very discouraged. I had never had any ball joints fall apart on me before. I had a '93 300EX I raced for 6 years with stock A-arms and never had a problem.
Any way just wondering if it was me or others are having roblems too.

I wore my ball joints out over 9 months but they never failed. They had over a 1/2" of play when i finally got too scared to ride it! They were on backorder for several weeks so i ordered some from R/S. Naturally, they arrived from cannondale the next Saturday. $13 each. I bet yours was just a fluke as i haven't heard/read of many problems.
The stalling problem can be fixed. Your dealer must not have performed all the bulletins. Stator is my guess.

This is one problem that I have gotten nowhere with cannondale. The first set was aluminum joints they were replaced under a recall.2nd set had slop within 2weeks 3rd set was $15 a piece they didnt last any longer than the set they replaced 4th set cost$87 FOR ONE!! SO I only bought the lowers I put grease in the boots right away and sealed the boot with a wire clip they have held up YEAH!
The newest version of joint on the 2003 have a wire clip on boot so I hope the problem is fixed.Cannondale refused to help me with this problem.I dont see any way that the joint could actually seperate but it isnt worth taking a chance. When that a-arm digs in the ground its going to be one heck of a crash.Maybe if enough of us post this cannondale will cover the old joints.

Had the problem with mine and you do go flying when the joint comes apart. Cannondale put a new front end under mine and all is well. I'm wondering what number is your C-dale and which model?? I have been riding it pretty hard with no problems as yet. I must admitt that I took it pretty easy for awhile because of the thought of flying without a license didn't appeal to me again. Took it through a whoop section last weekend full throttle 4th gear last weekend and all is well so am feeling the problem is fixed. Did you talk to your district rep? Mine knows more about bicycles than the motorsports portion but is teachable. After going over the finer principles of machanix with him and how it works and why it is important that they stay together and the bruised shoulder he got right on it and the new front end is in place. Great company and great quad. Awesome power!!!
