What gearing are you guys running on your Cannondales?
Which model do you have?
With which mods and what type of riding conditions.

Me........

2002 Cannibal
HMF slip-on
Custom mapping

Stock 13-42 Gearing

I race both woods and MX races and a drag race every now and then.

This is mainly why I am asking what you guys are running. I am going to get a few extra sprocket/chain sets so that I can change them from week to week.

It would save me many hours of testing if I could get some general tips on where to start from you guys who have already done some of the work.....LOL

Anyone try the stock Honda 38 rear sprockets? Did it completely kill the bottom end when you did??

Thanks guys.

By the way.....this is the REAL KNOWSALOT.......LMAO!!!

Where/who did you get the 15 tooth front sprocket from? Have you had any trouble keeping the battery charged? Mine dies if I do not go out and star it every two/three days? Rick

Get a trickle charger for the battery and just keep that on. It's easier to charge the battery this way than to just let it run. Also if you are just letting it idle it may not be charging the battery at all.

motomaniac,

The 15 front sprocket is available through your Cannondale dealer. It is offered as an option.

The Cannondale front sprockets are also the same as the KTM fourstrokes so there are plenty to be found in the aftermarket as well.

Since the rears are the same as the Honda sportquads, they too are easy to find.

KNOWSALOT,
SparkyEX just set his Dale up for flat track and I think he has a 38 tooth on the rear. He said the holeshot isn't what it was with the 42. He could give you a lot more precise details about his set up so send him a pm if you want.

I just had a 37 tooth rear put on due to having 18" tires now. My holeshot has suffered some but I think I just need to get used to it. Maybe by working the clutch a little harder I can keep the RPM's up. Anyways, everywhere else the 37 tooth seems to work great. Awesome coming out of tight corners in 2nd.

13-40. I run 20" Dunlops which are about an 1.5 inches smaller then those behemoth stock Holeshots. I ran stock gearing too in the dunes and the quad pulls better w/ the taller gearing due to the pipe and Moto mapping. Revs to quick w/ stock gearing w/ pipe and Moto mapping.

Thanks for all the advise guys. I appreciate it.

It's all been helpful to me and I will be changing my first set for testing next weekend on a motocross track.

I have a few different tire sets to experiment with as well.

Again...Thanks all.
