Spark Plug Fouling?
#1
I've gort an '02 Cannibal with about 6 hours on it. It is still stock and has the square muffler. The other day I went to start it, and it ran for like 5 seconds and died. It wouldn't start after that, so i changed the plug and it was fine. This is the second plug I've fouled. The first was my fault, the second wasn't as I have learned to always follow the proceedure for starting a cold engine ( after spending an hour to replace the first plug on the first day I had it). By the way I am running an NGK CR10EK plug which is supposed to be the standard heat range, but the first plug was a CR9EK.Im woundering what could have caused this , and is this something that I have to live with? Other than that this bike is by far the best stock quad I've ever owned! Would anyone that has relevent info please help me out? Thanks!!

It's not something you have to live with. I fouled my first plug in January, cleaned it an ran it until last week without ever fouling again. My stock plug was a 9, I'm currently running an 8. That could be the difference as a 10 is the coldest plug of the 3. Try and 8 or 9 and make sure your following the proper procedure and you shouldn't have any problems.
If you keep having problems, take it to the dealer. You may need to have your injector offset leaned out a bit.

I had a 8, fouled it due to not starting it the right way, replaced it with a 9 and a week later it fouled. I think I just started and stopped it to much in a short period of time ( ok, I just stalled it a lot ) so I cleaned the 8 and put it back in... that was back in December or January. I haven't had a problem since.
