Still Not Charging?
#1
We went riding for a couple hours yesterday and sure enough, after about an hour and a half of riding I shut her off and it wouldn't start. I turn the key on and it will turn over but will not fire. The fan also kicks on immediately when I hit the start button? So I charged the battery again, this time untill the charger kicked off. Of course it started right up, with a fresh charge. I am wondering if the dealer did not actually complete the update for the stator. I have the paperwork saying that he did, but I would imagine its his word to Cannondale that he completed it and he got reimbursed from Cannondale for the labor. I pulled off the flywheel cover, but don't have a flywheel puller. I can see the yellow wires but can't tell if the added sheilding is there without pulling the flywheel. Where can I purchase a flywheel puller that will work? Thanks!

Sounds like it could be a bad battery. If the dealer doesn't let the battery sit of 1 hour after they put acid in it, the battery will never reach its peak voltage. The cannondale must be at a certain voltage for the computer to function. Cannondale says this has been a big probem because some dealers rush to get the quad out the door and don't let the battery sit long enough to soad up the acid. Hope this helps.

Is there anyway to test the battery, without having to just buy another one? I don't have a problem buying another battery, even though its a brand new quad. But I don't want to buy another one if that's not the real problem.

Hey ZR,
If you can see wires it probably was not done. Check this out.

dubya1: I did look up that service bullitin before I actually purchased the quad a couple of weeks ago. And yes I can see the wires, so now I need to pull off the flywheel and stator. Anybody know if there is a special flywheel puller for the Cannondale?

I just bought the C'dale one. Call Kyle at RS he has them. They are Pretty cheap. (812) 279-5833. I was also told that a KTM puller works.
Do you have a Voltmeter? If so, what is your battery voltage while idling. Monitor it and it should slowly increase.

I did buy it in Virginia. RS Performance is about a 4 hour drive, far enough to do it myself. I don't have a problem with doing it myself, I just need to make sure I have the right tools, I will call RS and get the puller. I just talked with them last week about the problem, I haven't checked the stator output yet. I think whatever is happening is happening when it gets hot.
