Still Not Charging?

when you have the flywheel off take a look inside it to see if there is any carbon tracks. Some stators will rub the flywheel wearing the coating off windings cannondale will cover this they know which ones could have this problem.

Well I finally had a chance to check whether or not it was charging. And it was not! I measure 12.5V with the motor off, when i start it the multimeter reads 12.1-12.2V. When I rev the motor say 3-4K RPM's it reads pretty much the same 12.1-12.4V. I was told it should read anywhere from 14.2-14.7V, anybody got any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Kewl ZR,
Get the puller, check the stator, fix it.........and rock and roll!
Could still be the V-Reg. After flywheel check this is the only probability, Unless your battery is shorted internally. Hook up a lawn tractor or your truck battery with jumper cables, (the C'Dale battery removed of course) and then test it.
Good luck, Keep us posted.

Well I just checked the voltage regulator and everything checked out fine. I also talked with Kyle today at RS and he made a good point about the stator, the quad is too new to have already worn through the insulation and cuased this type of problem. That's assuming it has not been fixed. I guess I will have to run it down to him, time for another road trip! I've got a trip planned for this Thursday so I hope he can squeeze me in.

Kyle's claim, with all due respect to the top Cannondale dealer, wasn't right. I had the exact same problem you are having. It started on my first ride, oh, about an hour and a half into it. Sound familiar?!!!! It would be fine on short rides, but over about 30 minutes and the trouble started. Unexplained stalls and a little bit later- a dead battery! Charge the battery, and your good to go, for a little bit. I'd bet money it's the stator wires are pinched in the clip.
The puller is a 26 x 1.5mm right hand thread puller. KTM and Husaberg use the same one. Mine was about $16. Check out a KTM dealer if there's one local and you want to avoid the 4 hour drive.
It took 10 minutes to replace the stator, 30 minutes to run the wires! I hate to hear your having this problem, but be patient, once it's fixed, the 'dale will be there for you everytime you need it!
