I run Elka's. They ride a lot different than my Axis I had and feel very close to PEP. I like the Elka's better and the customer service you get with Elka is unmatched by anyone.

I agree on the customer service from Elka. I just bought mine and haven't ridden much on them yet, and I haven't had any other shocks to compare them too, but I love the company. When I bought my rear they told me it would take 3 weeks to build mine, but it was on my doorstep in 4 days. It took a little longer for my fronts ~ 1-2 weeks. They even threw in a free t-shirt. I would deal directly with Elka if possible so you can form a relationship with the techs there. My sales guy remembered me 3 months later when I called back to order my rear shock. Plus they have a hot-sounding chick that speaks French that answers the phone sometimes.

As far as the Elkas being too "soft", I believe that they have a "trial" period of a week or a month where, if they are not set up perfect for you, you can send them back and and they will re-spring or re-valve them for free. Call and ask, I am not positive on the specifics of this. Good Luck!

Plus with the Elkas, if you got the beg $$$$, you can get the dual adjust compression - slow and high speed adjustments. I don't know if the other companies offer this.
