Jim,

That really sucks what happened with Trinity, I hope that they straighten it out ASAP, as I know that the MX season up there is only a month or so away.

Maybe when you get a update start a new thread so we don't have to deal with this adolescent pissing match that should have been taken to PM land, or another thread, by now.

Good luck!

Tom

Hey speed man... I've been doing some reasearch and ... well you probably have already heard this, but the only way that your top end could have done that is incorrectly installed keeprs.. and only one has to be just slightly off... any movement would knock it off it's posiition, and unlock the valve... that is held by a compressed spring... and ... the shoots and I mean shoots that valve right into the piston... already heard this??

we already know that there is no such thing as over-revving with our engines

trinity being lazy. and they owe you a new engine. take them mugs to court!

I know you got that new engine, but did you ever get that taken care of?

I dont agree yes the keepers would have to have come off but they may have come off after the valve broke since there would be no tension on it to keep keepers in place.Check the 2002 manual for the cam lobe specs they are wrong specs for newer motor if Trinity put a piston with old specs or cams from new motor in a old motor the valves would hit piston bending or breaking valve then keeper would fall off.Why cannondale made these changes and didnt make a manual or at least update the manual is a good question.

Air- I must not have reads your post right??? If i read canondale27 right he said that TRINTY screwed up by not verifing the parts from one year to the next or a production change. A good shop would have figured that out. So i have misunderstood something on the last 2 post?? If you build motors you need to verify that ALL the parts will work with one another. Some manufactures tell you to check everything to make sure that you have the proper clearences. THAT IS WHY HE HAD THE WORK DONE AT trinity. IF YOU PAY TO HAVE TO DONE BY A legend, IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN DONE RIGHT

All I was saying is I can understand HOW the mistake was made.Yes it still was Trinities fault but you can see how the mistake could have been made.I also feel it is Cannondales Responsibility to have a updated engine manual which they dont have.

We just rebuilt a early 2002 Cannibal without replacing the cams though. It's running fine. Mark at Cannondale verified this for me before I fired it up. I still say Trinity fudged up on the keepers....

First, I can't believe this thread actually got back to my topic! Next, Can27; Trinity did ONLY a port and polish and valvetrain work. They DID NOT install a new piston, etc. The motor was the same one I ran ALL season without ANY problems. Air, I gave up on listening to your opinions as soon as you turned my thread into a pissing match. My Trinity experience is finished, I have money to get through their screw up; and I did. My quad is running, and Trinity will NEVER touch a motor of mine again. I don't care if you guys use them or not, this thread was just a story about my experience with them..............JIM

Alaska- You said you were up and running again. Were you able to use the same head or did you have to buy another one?? Is it ported or not?? If so how does it run??

I bought a complete stock head, new sleeve and piston kit. I also picked up an 02 Cannibal in crate for 4000.00, so I pulled that motor to run in my race quad. Running great, stock except for the full HMF exhaust and MOTO/SPEED custom mapping. I pull piped/jetted Raptors big time on top end...they were stock bore of course............JIM
