Since there are now out of buisness, do you think there will be a market for motor swaps? It sounds the the chassis will last a lot longer than the motor.

 

I dont know. It seems like the only motor that may be close to fitting is the KTM. If anybody has one let us know what you think.

 

i have a rm 250 i might try in my c dale, considering my motor is blown up, so i think there may be a market forit , the frame is awsome, shame to waste it

This is true. KTM makes a awsome motor. Their smaller one, can't remember cc's, is a exact bolt in as the bigger one. The other great thing is that the sprocket is on the same side as a Dale. Sooooo no bu!!$h!t with the swing arm. Now we need to figure out how to replace that carb with injectors !!

 

they have a 525cc, 450cc, 250cc, 125cc, those are all SX motors...they have bigger motors, 625, 950, 640 but they dont have they umph that the sx motors have

 

Must be the 450 and 525. I know Walsh made some frames to fit them and I remember him saying how the motors would just unbolt and rebolt in for racing different classes with the same chassie

 

there is a guy who races hare scrambles with me that has a walsh chassis with a 525 ktm motor, that thing is fast ... very fast, it WILL out run a c-dale i have seen it with my own 2 eyes, but ... .this past weekend the KTM grenaded, all there was was alot of smoke and no power

 

Just find someone that is good w/ aluminum. There is room there. I think the easiest way to do it would be to get one of those K&N filters that bolt directly up to the carb, since the gas tank doesn't leave room for an air box. Maybe some heat tape on the gas tank too since the pipe would be pretty close to it.

I bet you would have to do a lot of custom work and get the header bent the right way, but it would be possible.

Somebody should try that. I know there are some people on this forum that have a lot of money just waiting to be spent.

 

Making another gas tank is easy. We only need three qts. for a MX race. The air cleaner is the problem. Rear shock is in the way.
