To Sourmash,

I've been "putting up" my views on this area for quite some time now............what I can't seem to get people down there to make a choice about.........is if they would they like to have the rest of the world view them as "the former" or the "latter" in the preceeding statement above? I know, you would just like the CPSC and the rest of the world to "go away"...........but sorry bud, we are here to exercise our rights as Americans and enjoy every bit of this beautiful country which God has given us.........certainly not to put up with a bunch of people who REFUSED to help build these trails in the first place.
I am really sorry that somebody got up here and told the true story of how the Hatfield/McCoy Trail System was built........the sad part being that time is running out for any of these West Virginian atv clubs to be included in the later chapters of this epic tale in the making.

Don't change the subject BB. Your wisdom needs to be sent to the fine HILLBILLYS that don't have computers. Ya know the ones that are out riding ATV'S. C'on help us out, spread the word........IN PERSON.
It's our American right to hear all the views ou t there, not read them on a computer . Written by a person that lives 500 miles away and don't know nothing about the whole picture.
As always there are 2 sides of every story BB.
Hopefully youy don't think your anymore AMERICAN than these fine HILLBILLYS though.
Like I keep saying BB come down and preach your views, we'd love to have ya.
Again..........put up or shut up........

Sorry Sourmash........but everyone on here is able to confirm that you have actually been the one unwilling to talk to us about any of the myriad of your local issues that we have had at at hand. Simply attacking someone and claiming that your suggestions for a solution down there are "secret".......doesn't really qualify you as a contributing participant.

It's kind of sad........as I have laid out some pretty strong commentary here regarding some pretty important subjects that affect YOUR area.......yet the only subject you seem capable of latching onto intellectually is the word "hillbilly"; of which I was very careful to make any obvious distinctions between the good and bad varieties.
I guess I'm a "yankee"........but I am aware of and would just as sonn do away with plenty of "yankee trash" of which I'd just as soon not associate myself with........maybe this disassociation is just not all that important in the place you call home.

I can only hope that while the rest of the world can enjoy, respect and value the moral fortitude and strong character of even what some actors portrayed in the fictional "Beverly Hillbillies"........there will still be people who will proudly call themselves hillbillies and who will be rightfully proud of their heritage........maybe just not necessarily wanting to have that heritage tainted by people who can't even model proper behavior for their children's sake in 2003. .

(chuckling).......you know, Sourmash; you have made me smile and chuckle so many times over the years that I don't think I could ever muster up a bad thing to say about you personally......other than two people couldn't disagree more "prit en near" all the time.

We're fighting the same Barney Fife "It's akin to national security....I'm tellin' ya!" attitude about simple atv issues up here in Michigan as we speak. We've got clubs acting similiar to yours who are locking down meetings; denying attendance to even 'new' members that they "don't know well enough" and basically just denying the average citizen any idea of what is being proposed or fought for and who is involved in the process.

I'm just a guy who has stumbled into and observed all of this and felt that the rest of you should be somewhat aware of it......nothing more.......nothing less.

As always, thanks for the big grins

This really isn't very complicated. Everybody should be required to wear a helmet. no waffling. This should be a zero-tolerance law/rule. On MY quad and on MY property, it is. No helmet, no ride. I agree with blackballed here. This issue should be black and white w/r/t ATV orgs. None of this $100 bill stuff. That's hypocritical. Safety first. I'm amazed that this is even a topic of debate.

It confounds the heck out of me also and is a shining example of why our community never really makes any organized progress on issues which are equally as important........if we can't even agree on this little matter...........what hope do we have on issues which require us to be even more unified?.

I'll even take it one step further, and ask.............. who in the hell (that could actualy "help us") would want to be associated with a bunch of yahoos who can't even divorce themselves from any fellow parents who are modeling stupid behavior for their kids?

I'm sorry, but I refuse to be associated with people who treat their children in this way; along with any organization which lets them get away with it.....and that is regardless of whatever excuse they've come up with to justify it.

I wish this thread could have stayed more to the point of my question and not venture into why one should or should not join said organization....

The political slant of my question wasn't what I was looking for. I was simply looking for "I am" or something to that effect.....then if I had further questions I might inquire directly of that person.

I am a Charter member of ATVA. I do not ride without a helmet, and i don't ride with the helmetless. I don't wanna see your brains.

I haven't been around these parts much lately and may have missed something? Are hillbilly clubs attacking furriners at hatfield/mccoy????
We're goin back again next month! Should i cancel? Thanks for your help.
