Oregon Dunes: Umpqua Lighthouse access meeting
June 7, 2004
Coast plan hearings Wednesday
REEDSPORT -- The Douglas County Planning Department will hold two public meetings Wednesday to discuss the Umpqua Lighthouse master plan.
Officials will provide an update on action taken by the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department in adopting the plan, along with county reaction. They will also answer questions and listen to public testimony that will be shared with county commissioners before they adopt the plan later this month.
The meetings will be held at 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. at the Douglas County Annex, 680 Fir St., in Reedsport.
Last month, the state Parks Commission agreed to transfer to the county 200 acres of state-owned land between Winchester Bay and the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area. As part of the master plan management activities, the county plans to erect an ATV staging area south of the Umpqua Lighthouse to remove off-road vehicle traffic along Salmon Harbor Drive.
Information: Douglas County Planning Department at 440-4289, or toll-free at (800) 224-1619.
