Well I'll try again and hope I'm not wasting my time AGAIN. Yesterday I received in the mail a flier from environmental extremist wanting to close ALL the states trails. They made it very easy to contact the state by including a tear-off reply card. AGAIN, THEY WANT TO CLOSE ALL THE TRAILS IN THE STATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have written the Governor and hope you will do the same, here is the address for his web page.

Well, I'm not sure quite how to say this. It is true I'm not a resident of Pennsylvania, and that I do reside in Washington State. However, I did go to your attached site, and sent a letter to PA Governor Ridge. With Gore screaming about what he wants to see, and all the eco-***** out there trying to close our own public lands from us all, I can't stand to sit idly by and do nothing.

I joined the BRC a few weeks ago, and while it seems everybody wants to talk about standing and fighting for keeping our own atving rights and public lands open, it just appears that not many people are actually doing anything about it. I've written my own congressman before, and figured since you posted the topic, while it might not do any good, it just may give Gov. Ridge something to think about. After all, why would someone from Washington State be sending him an email requesting he fight for atv rights, and against closing the public lands??? Maybe if these various politicians or governors see that people across the entire U.S. care about these issues, they may take a different stand, and actually fight for us, rather than against us.

Anyway, just thought I'd let you know.

Mike

Thanks cowboy that was mighty kind of you. I also belong to the Blue Ribbon Coalition and I have also written letters to my elected officials as you have, you are to be commended for these actions. It truly is a shame that the people that claim to so love this sport are so apathetic towards saving it. A more selfish group it would be hard to find, because if you aren't talking whose quad is faster or screaming like children about who's is more reliable, they just don't seem to care. Thanks again, and here's to hoping for some positive response to this letter writing opportunity.

Hey, just got back from a few days up in the mountains riding, and had a small response to the letter I sent to Gov. Ridge. Thought I'd post it for you just to let you know at least they're thinking, and if Bush is also aware, maybe there's hope yet. Oh, and I've also gone to the Bush page to send them a note on the subject as well, hoping something positive will come of it. Only time will tell. Still think it's sad though that everybody is so quick to bitch about things that they don't approve of, yet will do nothing to prevent it from happening in the first place.

Dear Mike:

Governor Ridge asked us to respond to your email. We appreciate your concern for a balance between the environment and the use of these trails and roads for its enjoyment. Governor Ridge and Governor Bush are both conservationists, however, they do not elevate the "environment" beyond sensible levels. We will pass along your concerns to the appropriate people.

You can receive email updates from the Bush campaign by going to www.georgewbush.com, and when you receive news updates, you can forward those to your friends. You can also send letters to the editor. Thank you for your consideration and support. Keep up the great work.

Sincerely,

Timothy S. Wachter

I just wrote the Governor a letter asking him to be fair to the riders and not just the ECO-*****. I bet the Governor does not realize that Al Gore pollutes the air more with his jet plane every year traveling to ECO conventions than all of our machines put together. Bottom line is we made an investment in what makes us happy. All we want are the trails to pursue this happiness. The majority is against us on this issue. Does the majority want us to be riding up and down the streets in their neighborhoods, no. So gives us what we need. These are the thoughts I sent to our Governor.
