ST. PAUL --- A bill requiring helmets for minors riding all-terrain vehicles on public lands, waters and roads won preliminary Senate approval Monday.
The bill would expand a current helmet law to include passengers as well as operators who are younger than 18 years old.
"ATVs can be fun to ride and sometimes people fail to realize that they are dangerous," said the bill's sponsor, Sen. Dennis Frederickson, R-New Ulm.
The bill also adds a seat-belt requirement for minors riding on so-called class 2 all-terrain vehicles, which are between 900 and 1,500 pounds.

Well that's good to hear.
Now when are we going to get a bill past for those who walk and ride bikes on the Paul Bunin trail.
They past a law where horses have to have a permit to ride on state trails 21.00. Which is good.

cluby - good point. Out here on the left coast they simply make sure you have no place to park except where they want you to, and then you have to buy a parking permit. $5 a day, or $35 a year for the national forest, and $50 a year for just some of the state forrests.
