"...Any agreement to preserve the off-highway riding program is likely to more than double entrance fees at the eight state parks, which generally charge $5 per vehicle....'

It's just amazing to me that the orv community has cried like little babies over the years in regards to these ongoing loses of land (not you, reconrnager)....while every damn one of us was trying to 'get by' WITHOUT A WORD FROM ANYBODY on 5 DOLLARS A FREAKING VEHICLE!!!

The largest maintained trail system in the nation is still trying to skate by on $16 per year....many folks in the Appalachias feel strongly that it shouldn't cost a dime....and Arizona only recently created their pay-to-play system for the same reason that other states have 'miraculously' done since the travel management rule finally forced off-roaders to act like responsible citizens...because they were all about to lose the whole damn thing!

And who exactly wants us all tol keep 'quiet' about the fact that our incompetent off-road leadership should've been pushing for these increases over literally decades(?)....and well BEFORE they effectively ruined our reputation as folks possibly willing to PAY for the land that we're supposedly all about stewarding?

"It's pretty cheap entertainment, if you want to look at it that way," said Moreland, of the Capital City Mountain Goat Four Wheel Drive Club...(she does not think motorists would abandon the sport if fees rise).

Uhhhhh, you think? (unbelievable)

The thing here in Calif is that millions of dollars in our fees have been pilfered, mostly by the environmentalists. The comession that controls the money, is packed with left wingers from previous administrations...and Arnold has turned out to be pretty much a lefty himself. What they do is give all the money ($30 million) to the environmental projects and leave nothing for maintenance and enforcement.

We also got screwed on our gas tax money. There is a substantial tax on gas, but off road vehicles don't use the roads, so we are supposed to get a refund on those taxes. Well, they went and used data from years ago before the riding boom, so we end up getting cheated out of that money as well.

And then they ask for even more money in entrance fees, that they will squander on who knows what.......
