Just in case you have missed this information... On April, 25,2001 - David Tenny, acting deputy
under secretary for natural resources and environment at the department of Agriculture, issued a memo to FS Chief Dale Bosworth that basically renders moot the November 2000 Forest Planning Rule.

This decision came about because a number of groups and organizations had identified significant problems and concerns associated with the Clinton administration's planning
regulations and had asked the Dept. of Ag. to review.

This is a big victory for access interests because in the Nov. planning rule various "unroaded" areas
(areas that did not have formally classified/designated roads/trails in them, yet could have existing and legal roads/trails) would be studied for designated Wilderness and potentially managed as de facto Wilderness.

Thats great, but it is already too late for North Idaho. If you havent heard, we lost about 1000 miles of roads and trails in the Coeur d alene National Forest this spring.
