Sorry, Rancher. What I meant is that Congress should leave our insurance system alone. I don't want the government taking over anymore private sector business. I agree wholeheartedly that this adiministration, Congress, and Senate has done more damage to our capitolistic system than anyone previously. Socialism is not where we should be going. They're going in the completely wrong direction to get out of a recession. They should stop spending and make cuts in the tax rates. This is what has pulled various nations economies back up and has been successful in the past here. JFK cut taxes and we came out of a recession. Same with Ronald Reagen. Every time we raise taxes we slow the economy down or tank it. Remember that the present economic problems started when Barney Frank told Freddie Mae and Fannie Mac (gov. loan institutions) to loosen their rules so more people could own a home. Then they started pressuring private banks to do the same through the FDIC. So our government and private loan institutions had to write loans to people who couldn't afford to pay them back. This caused the problems we are facing now. So the same idealogically bent bunch wants to control health care too???? It's destined for failure before it starts. I hope we have an Obama-proof majority in either house in a year and a half. Keep writing and fighting.

From the Associated Press: "In [the] House legislation, a commission appointed by the government would determine what is and isn't covered by insurance plans offered in a new purchasing pool, including a plan sponsored by the government. The bill also holds out the possibility that, over time, those standards could be imposed on all private insurance plans, not just the ones in the pool." For those who believe that the government is not trying to control healthcare, here you go.

"In CBO's (Congressional Budget Office) judgment, the probability is high that no savings would be realized ... "The point of the proposal, however, was never to generate savings over the next decade. ... "In other words, in the terminology of our belt-and-suspenders approach to a fiscally responsible health reform, the IMAC is a game changer not a scoreable offset."
CBO Director Douglas Elmendorf

"The President said that rising health care costs are an imminent threat to our economy and that any reform must reduce these long-term costs. But CBO has made clear once again that the Democrats' bills in Congress aren't reducing costs and in fact could just make the problem worse."
Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell.

“What good is reading the bill if it’s a thousand pages and you don’t have two days and two lawyers to find out what it means after you read the bill?”
Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, Democratic Congressman John Conyers (D-Mich.)
