Well, I had wondered how much this program was going to cost me.

Isn't it funny how a $4500 rebate that we have to pay for turns into $6000 of cost to the taxpayers? Gee, maybe that will be good for healthcare too??? Not..

Just wait until the people who were driving the "clunkers" because they couldn't afford a better car, default on their loans in a year or so.

Well the problem here is that Fox is leaving out a lot of facts. The "cost" is not coming from tax increases, it is coming from money that is already allotted. The killing of the F-22 program alone freed up a ton of money.

So really, this "cost" has already cost you. It is money that would have been going to other programs anyway, Obama is just redirecting it.

Trust me, I'm not thrilled that this is where the money is going. I think the program is stupid. And I'd much rather have this money going in the bank so there is no tax increase later down the road.......

But I really hate the way the media spins everything. People who listen to Fox are no different that those that listen to CNN or NBC or whatever you have. They are all full of crap...... For some reason people think Fox is different.....yeah NEWS FLASH....they are different in the way they spin it.....they spin things in the opposite direction but the reality is that they are still spinning it. And believing them is ZERO difference to believing CNN. You are an idiot if you trust any of them.

Honestly, the government has no money left. Whether it is redirected or not, it is money being spent that the government doesn't have. Given the 2 choices I would rather see the Raptor produced in numbers the military deems sufficient than a program that has Peter using Paul's money to get rid of a clunker.

Well there you have it! You would rather have a dead, and unwanted project kept going?

Once again people don't know the facts. The Raptor-22 project was supposed to be killed under Bush. The military, and Pentagon all agreed it was dead. It was a failed and miserable experience that was kept alive by waste. The Air Force totally bypassed the F-22, left it on the tarmac in favor of the F-35 JSF. The F-22 was originally designed to replace the F-15 but it never was able to work well. But when the military asked for funding for the new F-35 they were told "no we have to keep the F-22 alive" ....why? For political clout that's why. Because certain political pullers didn't want to see jobs lost because a project was killed.

But you'd rather have the government waste money on something not even the military wanted then on a program that at least gives something back to the tax payers?

This is the problem here. People are crying over the Clunkers program because it is wasteful. Yet they are OK with keeping a project, for not other reason than to keep a few people in their jobs. Now if you think about that, right there IS the definition of Socialism. Keeping jobs that make no profit, and have no other purpose than to keep the people working....lol....holy crap that is Socialism 101, yet the Republicans are the ones who fought to keep that Socialism going?

That program sucked away so much money it is ridiculous and yet I did not see ONE SINGLE Internet poster complain, I didn't hear Fox News on their high horse, I did not see CNN saying anything.....nope...... it is programs like that, that promote the Socialism that everyone is so afraid of. It is funny because our military didn't even want it, yet the politicians kept it going, and some people would still back them up on it....... some people don't even know what Socialism really is, and would not see it if it smacked them in the face.

So one form of socialism is OK, but another form is not OK? No we cannot have it both ways. I think they BOTH stink and shame on the Republicans for trying to make it look the wrong way. They are guilty of it just like the Democrats.

It is this constant ignorance that allows them to get away with this crap..... People are crying about Clunkers but now many other programs is Obama sneaking by that the media is ignoring? How many did Bush pump into the system under the bogus Patriot Act? Every President since 1940 has fed the Military Industrial Complex so much it has created Socialism all over the map. Yet people are afraid of Obama? LOL.....ludicrous...... Just because he is taking the obvious and direct route does no absolve the others. And the American sheeple just went along with it all.....under whatever guise they shelter it, it is all the same thing.....

As I've stated before, I'm against this "CLUNKER" cr@p from the start. It is too narrowly focused, helps only one industry and when it all shakes out will probably hurt those that need the help the most by getting them into a bunch of payments they really can't afford!
The congressmen and senators that voted FOR this FEEL GOOD bill should be ashamed of themselves for wasting the taxpayers money and putting even a few of their constituents financial stability at risk.
IMO this is a type of conflict of interest, as the government owns a very large part of at least one the car company's that stands to benefit from a large cash influx of TAXPAYER money that they (the government) are using for self benefit!
Taxpayer money should be used for the benefit of ALL the taxpayers not a select few!
What kind of cars are the people getting when they trade in their clunkers?
IMO they are getting a cracker box on wheels! I'd rather drive a clunker than one of those things! If I were going to buy a new car I'd be looking for something with a little pep to it, like a Mustang or a Camaro or a Challenger! Not a gas sipping cracker box! LOL!

I fail to see how a defense program (Constitution provides taxation for this reason) is socialistic. The F-22, while not quite what the military wanted, fills the bill for a stealth fighter. Every test of what you call a failed program has shown it is superior to even our most advanced fighters. They can't even lock onto the thing. They've thrown 5 to 1 odds against it and, at least in simulated air fights, it has defeated superior numbers of our most advanced fighters every time. Although I am glad to see Americans working on projects that is not my main concern. My main concern is to get the best we can give our men and women in uniform so they never have to fight a fair fight. If the F35 was vastly superior to the F22, then I agree that it never should have been shelved for political reasons.

I also fail to see how the Cash for Clunkers program is helping the country. We are taking $6000 to give back $4500 to the consumer. That's $1500 per car to pay more beaurecrats in an already bloated government. So, the tax payers lose $1500. I wouldn't take it to be honest. I think my truck is worth more as a trade. And if the program was to help the "American" car companies I noticed that only 1 out of 4 cars bought are "American".

When it all gets down to it, the deficit is growing so large that we are going to have an extremely difficult (at best) time paying it back. I wonder if this keeps up whether or not we'll be able to pay the interest.
