travel trailer and four wheelers?
#12
I had one of those toybox trailers they are real heavy. I traded it in and got a 19" travel trailer and pull a 6 by 10 behind it. The key is load it so you have the right amount of tounge wieght, and put sway controll bar on back trailer too (i use the same kind the use on big travel trailers). Any more questions send me pm.

Yes. Back when I had a travel trailer and pulled it with a P/U I used to stand up (2) ATC's and (1) quad in the bed. That arraingement was a pain in the **** to load and so got old real quick. I ended up buying a 5th wheel Toy trailer and life was much easier. Roll em in and lash them down. I know in Calif you can tow (2) trailers, but the first one has to be a 5th wheel, second a pull-behind trailer. If you see yourself being involved with ATV's and camping for a long stretch I would highly recogmend a toy trailer..

I built a rack that slides in the back of the truck. I load mine from the back, the two atv's sit side by side facing forward. The toy box trailers look nice, but if you can't ride from your camp site you have to take the camper to the trail head. I have pictures I can e-mail you if you would like.

I looked at some new campers with a little garage space in the back for atvs or bikes. The interior dimensions were not quite big enough for two Sportsmen, one with big tires. A concern I had was that you are putting an enormous amount of weight behind the trailer axles, unloading the tongue and lightening the rear axle weight of the truck. Not a good recipe for highway towing. The salesman could not answer any of my questions intelligently, so I left. I then realized what someone else just pointed out, about having to pull the camper to a trailhead and leave it. That idea was out. Right now we have 2 tow rigs. My truck is a 3500 duallie that pulls our 8000lb travel trailer, and my wife has a Trailblazer (Chevy, not Polaris) that she pulls the atvs with on our 14 foot utility trailer. Turns out the little woman is a pretty good tow rig driver. My big ol' 3500 would pull everything, but I would need a parking lot to turn it in, or to unload the trailers from each other. It would make no sense to do it that way, unless I was going across the country. I'm not sure of the legality where I am regarding two towed trailers, but I know I would be approaching the 65 foot length limit. I imagine it would be dangerous as heck to have two pivot points. No way you'd ever be able to back it up, either. I can't imagine how much work it would be once we got to our destination.
I have a full size 8 foot bed, and theres no way of putting more than one big quad in there.

I personally am not a big fan of them, but have you considered a slide-in camper for the truck? That might be a solution for you. I don't care for them because when you go camping, you get all unpacked and set up then if you need to go to the store, you have to pack up the truck again. I like unhooking from the trailer and being able to run around in the pickup, sightseeing or whatever. But, again, it may be an idea you could consider.

Does anybody know anything about Weekend Warrior trailers? There pricey but you have a nice camper with cool options. The one i researched will fit 3 full size utility atv's and it's only 30 feet long. They cost about $30,000 but you have a cool camper that sleeps 6. You can camp with it even if you don't want to bring the wheelers. My only concern is that 2 620 pound atv's will sit side by side in the very back of the trailer while the 725 lb poo-*** sits over the axles. All the quads sit from the axles back.

You dont have to worry about all of the quads being behind the axle. Just load as much gear as far forward as possible and the tongue weight will be fine. They design these trailers to have extremely heavy tongue weight to compensate for toys being put in the back. If you arent hauling toys, the tongue weight will be over 1000 lbs. When loaded properly you should end up with around 750 lbs of hitch weight. I have had 2 quads behind the axle on my 22ft toy box and it handled just fine. Hope this helps.
