Default Rise in ATV injuries prompts move for new laws

i was reading in the newspaper today, and on page 5A (right above the topic used cars for 5 bucks)

and its like they are blaming the maker of the Atv and not the rider, the parents over react i think, and i don't no why the company has to get blamed for like flipping a fourwheeler, and what not,

pretty soon with this society there will be no more quads, (it seems)

any one with me on this one?

I think its apparent there should be more laws for kids on quads, atleast enforceable ones. Laws will help protect the manufacturers and hold the parents accountable.

I would rather not go through the late 80's/90's again.

yeah no one listens to the warning :must be 16 years or older to ride this vehicle: :no passengers on back:

its also apparent that the parents buy the quad FOR!!! the kids, so either way its the parents decison to also trust the little **** with the quad, and then they crash it, and then guess what, they sue or do something,

More laws are not going to help anything. Parent accountability is what needs to be addressed.

Exactly....parent accountability is where it's at. Create all of the laws you want too feel warm and cuddly....does not mean squat. Why? Because no-one is around too enforce any type atv laws where atv's are rode. Atv's are not around pavement where police officers are (because the copper has already been leaning on atvers too stay away).....do you pay Police officers too ride around on trails looking for someone breaking a law? Not happenning folks.....it's like beating a dead horse enacting worthless laws. Does anyone know #'s of atv's in use compared too deaths by year?

your right laws wont prevent the accidents but they may get these parents to think twice about giving little johny rottonass a fullsize quad to tear off on all day without supervision. When its found that little johnny rottenass failed to negotiate a curve on the trail with his grizzly 660, dies, or is hurt and the cops investigate the parents are found at fault due to new laws it might just be a little harder to sue the manufacturer.

I could care less as long as these little twurps and yuppy parents stop getting hurt and sueing everyone. I would like to club all there knees for causing stress on my favorite stress reliever.

lol yes exactly, the dealer should also look at the customer they are dealing with, and every one i think SHOULD get atv training if they don't have it already,,,

it should be manditory that every one that buys a atv should take a traning course

I agree 007, the parents should be held responsible....if people would take responsibility for their actions, we would all be better off anyway. A rational parent will not be letting little Johnny blaze off on the Grizzley anyway....the idiot factor kicks in and the kids that were illegal before and the same ones illegal after laws are enacted. As I posted before....no-one is gonna be enforcing the laws anyway...the laws will purely be our representatives feeling they are doing the right thing as far as not loosing lives.
