alright a 4 stroke uses straight gas like a car and a two stroke uses a gas oil mix. a 2 stroke usually makes more hp and has more upgrades. a 2 stroke is easier to work on too.

A 4-stroke also has a cam and valves. A 2-stroke dosent. A 2-stroke has reeds. A 2-stroke firers every stroke and a 4-stroke firers every other time. Thats why a 4-bangers need a cam and valves.

and a 2storke it takes one rotation to make a power stroke and a 4stroke takes 2 rotations thats why aq 4 stroke has more power and a 2 stroke is faster

To me, the biggest difference is $$$ for rebuilds.

Let's say you cook your 2 stroke.... You can get a bore job and piston for under $200.

Let's say you cook your 4 stroke..... This is an extreme example, but a guy that races with us just spent $2,200 to get his 4 stroke rebuilt. He had bent valves and all. At that point, I would have to let the quad sit.....

The quickest way i can tell if a wheeler is two storke or not is if you see the expansion chameber on the exhaust. If it's four stroke, it will be the same diameter pipe all the way to the muffler. You can also tell by looking at the head. If it's flat and has a plug sticking straight out the middle, good chance its two stroke. Four stoke plugs usually go into the side of the head.

you could also tell them apart just by the way they sound..4-strokes make a loud thumping sound and their silencers are usually a little bigger than 2-stroke silencers...2-strokes sound like they are really wound up....
