Chris142,

You can try some Carhart type cold weather getup. Carhart makes overalls and full jump suits with the red or black lining. You'd be fine with the reds and a pair of jeans on until it gets below about 15 degrees out (which I don't think you'll have that problem). I'm a commercial/industrial electrician up here in MI and you end up working outside or in unheated buildings in the winter sometimes. I opt for the Dickies overalls (about $50 cheaper than the Carharts) and a Carhart jacket with some Dickies gloves and thermal socks. And no, I never stop getting a little chuckle out of the word Dickies. Also get the ones that have the zippers all the way up to the hip, it makes them alot easier to get on.

Good Luck,
-Marc

Here in the desert though, you definitely want to LAYER. You don't want some huge suit like a snowmobiler would wear. The desert is a place of extremes! It can be 80 degrees in the day, and below freezing that same night. You want to be able to adapt to the changing temperatures, by adding/removing layers. But, then you have the problem of carrying all those layers around with you!!

All week it has been 25 at night and 40 in the daytime and the wind is howling. Weird. It usually warms up in the afternoon to a semi-berrable temp.

I'm thinkin of canceling Dumont since I only have a tent.

Todays high is going to be 80!! I'm going riding!! I lived in Minnesota for a couple of years, so I remember what winter is.

Wind chill is another issue. A strong wind can turn even a nice day into a cold one. A pair of riding pants and a jacket that breaks the wind are esentials.

I did go to the dunes last weekend. It was about 45 at night and 65-70 in the daytime.

Here at home it's been 25 at night and 55 in the daytime. I want summer back.
