Just wondering what everybody thinks which truck has the best transmission? I don't do too much of heavy pulling, just my 2 quads mostly and every once in and awhile my 18 foot boat.

I am looking @ a tranny that will last and not have the converter just fall apart and end up having to spend a couple thousand dollars again. [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-disgusted.gif[/img]

Ford 5speed torque shift auto tranny is awesome, even better when you put it in tow haul mode.

The E4OD ford was a good transmission, the converter was the only problem. The new torq shift is supposed to be great. I haven't heard of any problems from them yet.

The allison has had problems from local guys.

 

road ranger 5 speed
with a reverse and 1st hi/lo
and a 2 speed rear

Yep the allison is a purpose built medium duty tranny and using them in light duty trucks is overkill. But I would say thats better than a beefed up automotive tranny.
