Default age limits suck!!!

Those age limit stickers are only to cover the atv makers a$$. Most areas will not ask to check kids age. If you ride with your parents, you will never get stopped.

In WI here you take an ATV class when you are 12 and than you can drive any model. My daughter is in this now...actually tonight is their second night.

ohh all of you stop your whining.

it's not that you can't ride one until you're 16...that's just recommended. it's not a law, just a recommendation. i've been freely riding since 11 and i have never ridden a quad smaller than 250CC

Yes, it is true that it is just a recommendation, but a lot of dealerships will NOT sell a quad to the buyer if they know that the person that is going to be riding it is underage. So, when buying a quad do NOT tell them what age the rider is. Parents need to use their own judgement to determine quad size/CC. While a youngster may think he is fully capable of riding a very large quad that is not always the case. I do believe it should be changed to a height/weight recommendations though.

Height/weight is a definate. There is no way a child that weighs say 80lbs can handle a quad that weighs 300+ lbs no way...the machine will out weigh them at every turn and taking off and stopping...especially the turning....The bottom line though ultimately comes to the parental common sense. We that are parents must be smart about what we're putting our children onto and the potential risks involved. Not to mention we need to ultimately know our child/children's physical and mental limitations with these machines.

That's my 2 cents

Sorry, but i disagree,.. If you have the time and patience to teach your kids the limits of their abilities and the atv's abilities they will progress more than you would imagine. We have 3 boys (21, 18 & 12).. The 12 yo has been riding for years, and can handle a 500 HO no probs,.. and he's only 90 lbs. It's teaching them properly that makes the difference. Here's the 12 yo on a jump 2 weeks ago.
