Question for you dealers out there.
#1
I am in California and looking into starting a new atv/MX accessory shop.
My question is, Who have you found to be the best distributors that you deal with.?
That would include best prices and customer service.
Thank for your input in advance.

There are only a few selct ones that are worth mentioning.
Parts Unlimited has the biggest selection and easiest to use catalogs. Also generally have much of it in stock and when there is a back order, it doesn't take very long. They are the biggest distributor in the United States, so when a company [DG for example] has been behind on a particular product, Parts Unlimited gets the first batch. A downside to using PartsUnlimited is that their Reps really don't deal off of the "Dealer Best" pricing. Every once in a while, some offer comes around, but not often.
TuckerRocky These guys are only 2nd to PartsUnlimited due to having a smaller selection of items, but they rank #1 in customer service, at least when it comes to dealing with me. They give you price breaks on products you really use. Let's say that you want to do a strictly Maxxis tire inventory. They will give you an additional 35% off of what the dealer normally pays! That's a huge profit margin. I can usually smoke any magazine ad offer for Maxxis tires.
Western Powersports They are more offroad oriented than others [good thing] but don't have a great seletion of product and the name brands that they carry are often unheard of by your customers. Not cheap stuff, just different names. Great customer service.
MotorcycleStuff Lots of products for sport ATVs. They are also a supplier of AC Racing products. When AC is out of something, I give these guys a call to see if they have any in the warehouse.
If you plan to strictly after Sport ATV products only, check into [BAdvantage Performance[/b] These guys have all the trick stuff including billet parts, fulllbore plastic, along with all the odd stuff you only find in the magazine ads. I deal with this company alot because it keeps me from filling out so many different dealer application forms with all the seperate sport ATV product companies.
As for High Performance Engine parts.......For 2 strokes, I deal strictly with Duncan Racing. Very helpful and they ask the right questions you case you forgot to ask your customer. I used to deal with Curtis Sparks, but his service is beyond poor. You can't ever get anyone on the phone. I tried calling them for 2 weeks straight at one point just to order some more offset flywheel keys. When I finally did get someone, they asked me to fax the order. I did. 2 more weeks go by. To make a long story short, they lost the order.
For 4 strokes, I deal with Powroll. They don't build engines, which wouldn't matter to us because we build our own, but have excellent service and great turn around times on stroker cranks and seem to always have everything in stock.
If you plan to alot of Utility ATV accessories, Parts Unlimited will be your main source of parts by far.
Maybe this will help you a bit in your quest.
