I hope a lot of people in here read the article. Heat range is a very large misconception when it comes to spark plugs. When Denso first added copper to its core, they bragged it gave their plug a "greater range of thermal capacity" which allowed it to act as a plug with a broader heat range. It also was capable of removing more heat quicker from the combustion chamber than conventional plugs while operating at its given heat range. That was back in like 1982 or 83(?). That was close to when Denso, Nipondenso back then, came out with their "U-Grove in the ground electrode. The reason for that is it takes less voltage to arc between two sharp objects than rounded objects. So the spark plug delivered a "crisper spark" for a longer period of time. Platinum, iridium, and so on since then. A tiny point of hard metal that takes a long time to wear.
Great info, keep it coming.
