Default i'm thinkin of building a custom hot rod....

i want it to be unique, i was thinkin of putting the rear axle of a truck into a 67 nova, it would take alot of engine power to drive the rear axle and would probably need the 18 speed tranny that the truck axle gear ratio is set to, it would look awesome, with dual wheels in the rear end, but the frame would have the be super strong. i would probably go to a local junk yard find an 18 wheeler rear axle and take in to my friend to have it all polished, brakes checked, etc... if i were to run a regular 5 speed transmission, the ratio in the axle would be all wrong, so the 18 speed (or 10 speed) or any truck tranny would work,

question..... would a diesel V8 be strong enough to do this or would a v10 be in store for this?

and i would probably jack up the rear end like to an 8 or 10 inch lift in the rear

later

You've been watching Monster Garage haven't you.

I don't think it would require all that much power to turn a truck rear end. I'm thinking that the gears are pretty low on most big rigs. Besides, you won't have much of a load to pull. Why not try a Turbo 400 tranny. You'll have to build a custom driveshaft to mate it up.

Another suggestion would be to get aluminum wheels to reduce the weight.

Are you going to run dual rear tires or huge singles?

What in the heck are you going to do with it?

I have been watching the monster garage series yes, and they will be huge dual tires, i want to be unique, the back end will be like 11 inches taller than the front, i just will probably go to a junk yard and look for a year 97 rear end, (i don't want something too old) i'm in to the whole big rig thing, i am going to Wyotech college to get further training.

gooooood times

sounds like it would be cool, its very obvious that you've been watching monster garage. they made a peterbuilt trike one time. maybe find a rerun of that and get some ideas?
