Snatchblocks, where to buy ?
#1
I have a Warn 4000lb. scissor type snatchblock that was part of a Warn accessory kit. I like the snatchblock because I don't have to remove any small cotter pins to use it. I would like to find one similar for My Father in Law, without having to purchase the whole Warn kit at a cost of between $75.00 and a $100.00. The local hardware stores carry snatchblocks but they all have a larger pin that is held in place with a cotter pin that has to be removed before rigging a winch cable. The removal of the cotter pin would be a complete pain in the rear in snowy/cold/muddy conditions. If anyone knows where I can find another scissor type block for a decent price please let me know. Thanks for any info.

AW Direct ((800) 343-3194) sells a 12,000 # "scissors-type" "winch block" for $ 42.95 ((WSB-1).
The ****** block TxDoc2 refers to is the hitch-pin style, an effective and affordable accessory, but with those annoying pins hard to manipulate with cold fingers, gloves or mittens; then, the pins often drop into the mud or snow and disappear (don't try to replace one with a safety pin!!!! voice of experience!!!! whaaaaanggg!!!!! ****** block came apart; never did find the pulley shaft where it flew into the woods).
The scissor-type is more convenient to use, the hitch-pin more affordable; I carry a hitch-pin style ****** block in my ATV toolbox, a scissor-type winch block in my truck.

Yeah, it does. Sorry. I understand the need for a scissor-type for him. I have a McKissock that has a bolt with a t-shaped end that is easy to handle with gloves. AW Direct is the tow truck equipment company, isn't it, TF?

Not at all, TxDoc2, you identified what is probably a "best buy" in ****** blocks for ATVers on a budget who can live with the hitch pins. I've already referred your shopping tip, with full attribution, to ATV_MAN.
My current ATV hitch-pin ****** block is from AW Direct, the tow-truck guys as you mention; 9,000 # for the low $ 30's. I'm satisfied with the quality and price (and AW Direct's service), but that Northern block looks like a DEEP discount bargain to me.

Also has a nice snazzy color compared to thewarn ****** block.
Also has Steel sheave runs over a hardened and polished axle on sealed needle bearings,,,Aaarrruue?,,,What is this? And only three Saqajaweea's more.
