Default Goggle questions

Looking to get some goggles for me and the wife.
Is there a difference in the 28 dollar pair and the 52 dollar pair? I wear glasses, do i need the otg type or will regular work? I want the vented type, but does that let in more dust?
Is there a good place online with good prices?
Thanks for the help.

Generally, what you get with most $50+ goggles are different foam layers and sometimes tearoff posts depending on the brand.

I sell Scott, Spy, and Oakley. All 3 of these, I can speak for as being great goggles.

If you wear glasses, you will need the OTG type. I have seen very few guys [and gals] who can wear standard goggles obver their glasses.

Don't even bother with the vented lenses with you ride in very dusty conditions with more than just a few riders. They work OK for small groups where fine powder dust isn't an issue.

If you are worried about fogging, get a "no fog cloth". One cloth is good for years if you keep it clean and in a ziplock bag. There is also a product out there called "Sun Magic" that is really one of those "wonder chemicals". Wipe it on your goggles to prevent fogging, cleans oil from carpet, removes sticker residue from graphi kits and stickers, along with many other things.

What do I wear? Spy. They offer more lense choices than Oakley and the foam keeps sweat from my eyes better than the Oakleys and Scotts.......but every rider has a different "feel" of what he needs.

I would suggest you go to a dealer who has a good selection and try them on for yourself.
Good Luck

Patrick

I have the Pro Grip 3400 LS. It has never fogged up on me.
It has:
anti scratch lens,
fog free,
silicone strap,
tear off post,
vented frame,
light sensitive self tinting lens

The two most important things to me is the silicone strap and no fog. I think you can buy a cheaper model of Pro Grip and put the better lens in it. I think it's slightly cheaper depending on where you shop.
The 3400 is $44.99 in RM. I can't remember how much I paid because it's been a couple years. The lens does tint nicely when entering a brighter area and then clears as I enter the darker areas like the woods. I use the tear offs more for the bugs than the mud.

I guess it's like anything. They make products more attractive by adding little things to them. You just need to decide which is the most comfortable and which has the things you need. You might need to get 2 different kinds to fit your needs and your wifes needs.

It's all about personal preference. www.DennisKirk.com has a good selection on goggles. You can beat their prices though. But Since you live in Minnesota I'd order from Dennis Kirk because they will be at your doorstep the day after you order them. and if you spend over $100 you get free shipping. otherwise $6.00 for shipping. They will always send you what you ordered also.

It might be a good idea to bring your helmet in and try on diferent types with your helmet on. Some helmet/goggle combos have a better fit than others. Just a thought........

Ya, one idea is to try them on your helmet..some will fit better on helmet type and be more comfortable to you..But IMO I get the cheap 25 30 dollar ones...They work just fine...I just think that two pair of goggles at 25 bucks is better then one pair at 50 bucks.just my opinion!
