i use Microsoft Paint. Paste the picture on a Paint doc., make sure it is highlighted, and go the the Image menu, and Strech/Skew (spelling). Keep downsizing. In the image menu, go the Attributes, this will tell you how lagre the picture is. It has to be 60x60 pixels or less, and a .GIF or .JPEG document, hope i helped

When you go to save it, click "save as", then on the bottom there is a box, click the arrow and select JPEG or GIF, mine is a JPEG.

Sometimes I find it easier to save under .gif. Make sure all the sizes fit. 60x60 - 8. Probably be something like 45x60 - 7.95. You might need to bring down your resolution.

Remember that the pictures will look blurry in a larger size once saved. They should clear up as an icon.

Different things will reduce it below 8. Lowering the resolution will help. (150, 100 res.) Using .gif seems to help me keep it lower. RESIZE the height and or width smaller will reduce it.

If scanning, you might be able to change the output type. From something like "millions of colors" to "256 colors (8 bit)". This is done during the scanning process.

You have to play around with the pictures to see what works best for each picture.
