I agree with fruitjacket's comments. That totally sums it up. If you want to give ATVers a bad rep where you are fine but do not broadcast in OUR forum. We all do not want to be put in the same sentence as you. Stop wrecking our sport!

DISCLAIMER: First of all, no animals of any kind were injured or harassed in the making of this thread. I was riding across a plowed field as well as the rabbit, but I wasn't chasing it, we just both happened to be going the same direction. It did inspire me to write this thread to see what kind of reaction I would get and I can see I struck a nerve. NovaSS, you seem to know who I am, so you should know this was a farce. I am a board member of the North Dakota Bow Hunters Association and am appauled at people that commit game violations. I would turn in my best friend if I caught them poaching deer without a second thought.
The intent of this thread was just to see what kind of reaction I would get but I can see now that even as a joke, something like this can be damaging to our sport and for that I appologise. I am glad to see that almost all of you felt that chasing or killing animals for "the fun of it" is wrong.
By the way, I'm in the Air Force not the Army, but only for about a month and a half. I'm retiring with 22 years in the service and am happy to have served my country. With all the bad publicity that the armed forces have received lately, I wouldn't want you to think that we are all bad. I wish I were 28, but Nova was close, 43.

I agree with everyone else! Situations like that is what gives us quaders a bad name. I think it's cruel!

" I took the new Griz out yesterday and spotted a wascally jack wabbit running across a plowed field (not planted). The Griz immediatly took chase. After about 10 minutes of extreme chasage the Griz ran the wabbit down and ate it.
Some of you may think this is a crewl sport, sorry. It was a blast. I'm going to paint a wabbit on the side for it's first kill. "

Seems like you last post was a contidition of your first post.

Ok, I'll buy your last post that you were just finding out how the people on this forum would react to the rabbit thing.

Now, about that "plowed field" that wasen't planted. Did you have permission to be driving around in it? I know on our place we really don't want people making tracks across the fields. Encourages erosion both from rain and wind. Or were you just foolin about that too?

I call BS. Someone that knows him saw the thread and now he's trying to cover his tracks. Open mouth and insert foot.

I still think it's funny. The guy that said he would swerve off the trail to miss a bunny is an idiot. I drive down a road where there are rabbits and dogs crossing the road all the time (they die). Swerving to miss wildlife is stupid unless the animal is bigger than your vehicle. I hit an antelope and it destroyed the bumper and grill of my pick up. If I would have swerved, it would have more than likely rolled and killed me. Survival of the fittest, the truck won. If they are walking where I am driving, not my problem. I would never chase a deer or anything bigger than my ATV, it might turn and decide it can take me. I am getting a Grizz soon, so that won't be as big an issue. Lots of ground squirrles and prairie dogs and chipmunks around here. I don't aim at them, but I won't dodge them either.

I agree, swerving to miss wildlife is not a smart move, on a car or ATV, Sure if you have time to slow down or drive around them thats is the prefered method .

Why would any atv rider run over a perfectly good jack rabit when there are perfectly good and equally useless tree huggers to run over instead?

Kidding of course, I'm in the leave the animals alone camp.
