Default Anyone like to shoot bows?

Finally got the new bow. Diamond Widowmaker lll. 30 inch draw. I got the draw weight on 67 lbs. It sucks though its only got a 7 inch brace height, not very forgiving. Its heavy too almost 5 pounds. They claim it shoots 318 fps but i shot it through a chronograph and with the pse carbon it shot 305 and with a aluminum arrow it shot 262. I will try to get pics up soon.

Got two favorites, a Martin Panther and a High Country Excalibur. I shoot left handed, I always have to special order a bow. I shoot 31" ACCs with 100 grain Rocket expanding tips and 4" Plastifletch Elite vanes. Like garyc660R, I tried every sight known to man before going back to a simple sight with 2 fiber optic pins, 25 and 40. Gave up on fancy rests too, shoot a simple NAP easy tune. The Martin will crank up to 89 lbs, the High Country tops out at 80. I'm taking these two to Canada this fall for black bear.

I have a couple of LH recurves but they are tough to shoot accurately after 25 yards. With the compounds, I can add another pin and be good to 60 yards. When getting ready for an elk hunt, I practice at 60 yards with a paper plate. I can't do that with a recurve but I respect the guys that hunt with one. I couldn't stand to see game that I couldn't shoot because I limited myself with bow choice, I'm in the woods to do some killing.

Mathews makes an awesome bow, they are so short and light it's amazing. I've thought about buying a Mathews solocam and swapping the twin cams from the High Country. Solocams are nice but twin cams are faster. I make my own strings and cables out of BCY450 so cam swaps aren't difficult. The High Country has wicked cams and shoots 310 fps w/5 grains per pound at 70 lbs. I'll bet they would shoot over 320 fps on a short brace Mathews frame:-)

I shot a high country the other that was set on 85 or 86lbs and it was kickin my a$$. It felt like it only had 10% let off. I shot it 5 times and put it back on the self.

I seen a mag and high country is claimin 350fps out of that new carbon fiber. I heard someone say it shot 390 witch is a bunch of bs because a guy brought it to the range the other day and he could get it to shoot 310. He said he had it cranked all the way up too.
