I currently use a come a long instead of a winch. It is a two ton come a long. I haven't had to use it, yet. I have practised with it several times. Try www.cabelas.com. It was $19.99.

 

We ride 4x2 ATV's so I always carry a come-a-lomg with us. I attach it to the Trail Boss. I have yet to use it to pull out a stuck ATV. It is a great piece of mind as you never know when that next mud hole is deeper than it looks. I always carry extra rope as well just in case a quad breaks down so it's not like I now am carrying more rope than before. I have also used the come-a-long around the house for things like pulling stumps. A great tool to have for many different applications.
