i prefer woods and mud,, although...we have a huge a$$ area that was supposed to be a golf course but the company building it didnt finish....legal problems......well now its a big play ground...got huge mounds of dirt and hills which you can launch off of...and ponds.....its like a play ground for big kids...with no swing set.....and thats about as close as i get to dunes ahahha

Hard A$$ Desert Cross-Country and Mountain Trail (the more technical the better!).
Dunes is my last choice. Fun, but just doesn't excite me all that much, even though I live 2 hours from Glamis or Dumont, and 4 hours from Pismo.

i love tight twisty trails, never really been to any dunes but have ridden in some pretty big sand pits and it gets boring to me..we have a good 300 acre riding area 10 minutes from my house, its awesome because all the trails connect to one another eventually,so it makes for a nice cource to run on..

Nothing compares to the mountains, IMHO. The more rugged and technical the better. I like to climb to 10,000 ft. and look at everything below me (King of the World).
I think it just depends on where you live, what you are used to, and what type of machine you own. Hey, at least we are all having fun in our own way. That's what makes us unique...I'm glad everyone is different and not all riding where I'm at.

I love the dunes, going wide open flying up and down through the "trough" towards the back, weaving a line at big speed, jumping, its all good.
But I would also like a big ol' Grizzly with big tires and racks and winch and all that stuff to wack through the mountains and load dead animals on.
Woods trails are great fun if they are decent trails.

Well most of our woods "trails" around here are just fire roads cut into vertical mountainsides. Those Hatfield/McCoy type trails look like a lot more fun than cliff edges. The technical stuff is fun so long as a mistake doesn't result in a thousand foot drop and sudden death
