I remember many years ago locally a similar "chicken" incident where some kid got killed. Quads are not to be taken lightly. Even a little 250cc machine like a Honda Recon can go fast enough to get you seriously hurt or killed. I have a friend who was relatively lucky that he only broke his shoulder(along with a lot of cuts and bruises) when he hit a deer going about 50 mph on his Grizzly back in 2008. He wasn't wearing a helmet either, which makes him even more lucky. You can bet the best rider in the world but same as in driving a car, sometimes things happen that you can't control.
