Barrels are about 52 dollars for crude, which is about 4-5 dollars over the previous high. We are paying for oil, but so is everyone else.

Diesel is often MORE than unleaded, at least it has been many times in MI since 9/11.

Actually, Diesel typically cost more in fall and winter, because heating fuel and diesel are almost the same(kerosene also). When demand rises for heating oil, diesel rises with it. Gas usually cost more in spring and summer, due to the drop in demand for heating oil and the increase in demand for gasoline due to driving season........

<<<bsb64, I agree with everything, but the numbersDon't know if they are accurate or not. He even said in the article, that he felt we would never run out of fuel. I don't know about that, either IMO, the world can hold only so much. Seeing your in the field, can you elaborate more on that? >>>
There are two major factors that, inevitably will create higher fuel costs in the coming future.
China's growth has just begun. The size of this country and industrial producting growth is huge. As time goes on their consumption will dwarf the USA consumption levels. Right now the USA accounts for a disproportionally high amount of overall world consumtion. The key point here is, increaing demand always allows for inflation of end price.
The other is accessablility of existing stocks. Even the Saudi Stocks which are the world's prime stock are becoming increasingly less profitable to drill. When you drill oil, profitablilty is determined by quality of crude and ease of extraction. The Saudi wells are getting to the point were the easy stuff has been extracted. More and more they are required to use a method of extraction that uses pumping of steam into to wells to make the crude rise up, for extraction. This is become much more costly each year. Russian crude, a huge reserve, is often low quality and hard to refine. Plus, Russia's crude is of a lower quality than mid eastern stocks. .......The key point here is, the more it cost producers to extract then refine, the higher the end price will be.
Add in the instability in almost every major reseve country in the world(Russia, Saudi Arabia, Venezuela, Iran, Iraq) and.......it paints a pretty dismal picture for fuel costs.......
Sorry if this post is jumbled together quickly, I just got back from a 24 hr. Tuna fishing trip and I'm feeling woozy, LOL.
