What has the ATV done for you??
#1
Heres a sort of serious question. What do you think the atv has done in your life? Has it brought you closer to others or to the environment? Do you think it has changed the world in any way? I know its been important in my life. I can't count how many people i've met and new friends i've made. I've been able to see different places in the U.S. by ridin at the different parks and riding areas. I know its brought me closer to my family since my little cousins love watchin my brother and I hittin the moto tracks with our dirtbikes and atv's. They love it and now they are into it. Every weekend we hit the trails somewhere and just ride for hours and enjoy the scenery. I remember the first time I got into atv's. The only thing I had to ride was my dirtbike. I rode it all the time, even when it was muddy. I hated ridin in the mud with the dirtbike so I bought a new 2001 Mojave. I fell in love ridin atv's. Don't have to worry about balancing and it was more comfortable. Granted, I still ride my dirtbike and will never get rid of it cause I can fly higher on the bike. Gotta have some major air!! See, havin an atv does bring family and friends together because I sold my Mojave to my cousins girlfriend to get my current dirtbike!! hahahaha. Makes everyone happier. Thank god for the ATV!!!

it brought our family together...that and camping. Every time we camp down at my grandmas lake (she has 80 acres) we go out riding the quads...playin in the mud and then hitting up the back roads (perfectly legal)
For my little brothers last birthday we bought him a little polaris 90 sportsman...he sees me jumping and donuts and all that fun stuff and he tries to do it on his...so I have to watch myself when I am riding around him so he doesnt see me doing the "stupid" stuff....
My step mom will go out on trail rides but will not hit up the mud....like my dad sister and I do. our extended family also gets into the fun... my cousin bought a used traxter (to bad it wasnt mine :S) well actually traded his sport and jetski streight up for it...so he likes to play in the mud with that.

I'm talking seriously here. I was changed from a sissy 10yr that did not know anything about engines except that they make your car go. Almost 6 yrs later i've learned more than i would have ever have. They've lessened my fear factor. They've added self-esteem. Added father/son time. And go places i would have never gone before.
But one of the biggest things ATVs have done to me is introduce you guys to me. This foru has had a huge impact in my intrested and obsession these 1 1/2 i've been in here

Wasted endless amounts of income which increase by the moment.
Brought my father and I closer together, only to give us more to fight about.
Brought my friends closer to me, until we race and people have sore feelings.
Brings up inadequacy issues when I dont place first in races.
Causes me to spend hours a week on atv websites neglecting serious responsibilites and sleep.
I could think of more, but you get the point...

Oh, a half dozen trips to the emergency room too. Broken bones, large lacerations, sprains etc. And of course the resulting missed productivity from forced bedrest or limited activity.

Just for the record, I never ever was a sissy!
The family camping thing has been the greatest. At least one weekend a month, we go out to the desert and park all the toy hauler trailers in a big circle, build a big fire in the middle, and roast marsh mellows while the kids buz around like busy bees on their little bikes.

I can't say it has changed my life because I have been riding quads and dirtbikes since I was 5. But it has given me a hobby that I love and were most of my money goes to now that I am 21.
None of my family really rides except for my dad and grandpa when I was a little kid. Now they have passed on and Im the only one in the family. But riding has giving me a great thing, and that is about 6 friends that are like brothers to me. When I first moved to the town I live in now about 8 yrs. ago I started riding with these guys(kids at the time) and now we have had a lot of good and bad memories together and for the most part we still hang out in our spare time aand have a good time.
My other hobby I LOVE is racing(stock cars), so I figure since I can't afford that, I will combine the two things I love and start racing motocross this season. (I have only run a few fair races in the past, so time to ste it up!) I'l probably mainly race the dirtbike, but would also like to run the quad a few times, probably use that in a hare scramble or 2.
That pretty much somes up the question, oh yeah, and I also have met a lot of neat people and found some good parties do to riding! And I love to be in the outdoors, but that is a given!
