Default Nissan Helping Our Sport Through Commercials???

The truck has enough power to tow, the problem is the braking/suspension and the axles. I dont trust the brakes when towing, specially in Mexico when you hit a pot hole and the ABS kicks in, it feels like your not gonna stop in time. I know Im pushing the tow capacity on my truck, reg cab short beds arent ment for towing. The 4.8 only has like 15trq/hp less than the 5.3...so with my mods Im not that behind the BIG v8. I put an add-a-leaf and that helped a bit, but the springs are too soft, even with the tow package on my truck. Ive pulled heavy stuff with this truck...pulled a 3000# car carrier with a 1971 C10 on it, no problem except stopping, lots of tiles on the same trailer, dad's 88 gmc too. I think my problem is that I load 2 quads, all the gear in the bed of the truck, 4 heavy guys (200+) inside and just pull the trailer with one bike, most of the weight should be on the trailer. Im sure that if I got an extended cab, long bed I wouldnt have any problems. Im leaning towards the duramax because my dad can get fuel for free (sells semi-trucks to dealers nation wide), tuning capabilities are almost endless (Bullydog, duramazimizer, etc) and I can get a GOOD deal at my dealer. I dont want to seem like I dont know what Im doing, its just that Im pushing my little truck a bit too far, keep in mind its a 2WD too.

BTW......

A real engine aint a 5.3, Id consider a REAL engine the 6.0 or 8.1....FYI, I can whoop my cousin's 04 5.3 Z71 ext cab, short bed in the 1/8 mile and 1/4 mile.

Okay fella's here goes nothing, being the only Nissan Titan owner from what I can see. Let me tell you something this Titan screams on the road. I was on the highway and smoked a hemi.........Titan====HEMIEATER The HEMI has more Horsepower than the titan but the TITAN has more Torque, which in turn will give you a quicker truck. I rented a 2004 Ford F-150 with the 5.4 liter Triton and it was just to slow. The ford has a great interior though. I did this because at first I wanted to buy the F-150 because i loved the new body style but dam ford put some more juice in your F-150's ....The dodge was just cheaply made and plus I wanted my Transmission to last more than 80,000 miles....Chevy silverado is a great ride ( Comfortable ) my buddy has one , but still lacks in power. The toyota's still have not got it right and I think they never will. BY THE WAY WHOEVER SAW THE COMERCIAL WITH THE RAPTOR PERFORMING A BURNOUT ON THE BACK OF A TRUCK IT WAS A TOYOTA TRUCK. Anyways I love my 2004 Nissan Titan Crew Cab and my 2001 Raptor 660R fits perfectly in the back. All I do is lay my ramps down and drive right up.. Also when driving into many trails, my Titan has the Off Road package which includes Rancho Shocks, SKid Plates and a Higher Ground Clearance and makes very easy work in even the tuffest trails...

JUST MY 2 CENTS

I am not a big Nissan fan, but I do own a 94 king cab se with 215,000 miles on original engine and only repair was for a new exhaust and timing belt

it pulls my bass boat just fine, and I have seen many horror stories from the big 3

The commercial is kind of cool in it's own way, I always like seeing atvs on tv. I will stick with my Ford F-250 SD. It is made in Kentucky, has 310hp and 425 lb. ft of torque, can tow over 12000 pounds, and gets 15 mpg on the highway (12 if I am towing one of my Buicks). It has the 6.8 liter V10 with a 5 speed manual trans.

The 6.0L is a gas hogging sob and the 8.1 barely has more power than the 6.0L, We've owned them both. The 5.3 isnt much in comparison, but its the biggest you can get in a 1/2 ton GM and the 4.8 performs well under it. Dont get me started on the Duramax, its anything but "durable to the max". Thats not to say Dodge and Ford havent had problems with thier new diesels too, just remember they are all very far from perfect.

What about the Ford Lightning i bet it'll whoop anyones little Nissan, or the Ram RT/10, people are fooled when they see Hemi, they think Power, well not really. that's not even a TRUE hemi, it just has the Hemi designed heads and junk on it, and it's a 5.7litre which is actually smaller than the 360, but the 360's are the worst engines Mopar ever built, PERIOD., the 426 HEMI is the real s***. i'd never buy a nissan neither, if i was buying a middle sized truck it would probably be the Dodge Dakota, 318's are better running engines than the 360's you find in most Rams, now if i were going to buy a full sized truck it would be either a Ford F250 Powerstroke Diesel or a Dodge Ram 2500 with the 24 Valve Cummins Turbo Diesel, which i'm looking at both right now and can't decide on which one, i'm leaning towards the Ram, these have 6 cylinder diesels which is what a majority of big trucks have in them today.

Oh yeah what about the Chevy Silverado SS, not the SSR, but the AWD SS.
i think not. the SRT-10 has 500 hp and tq PLUS it can be had in a standard compared to the 300 some hp lightning automatic

As far as having the most power in its class. Usually they use a disclaimer as rating of standard power. So the base engine in the Nissan may have more power than the others offer as a base, but it by all means does not mean it has the most hp available.

I have an 03 F-150 Supercrew 5.4L. It's being fixed and my rental is an 05 Silverado LS. Nice truck. I've driven the titan, it's also a nice ride. It's interior is quite unique, perhaps a little on the "car like" side. Hypathetically, if chev, ford and dodge all made total lemons for five years straight, would you still not consider a "foreign" vehicle?

I think the lightning and SRT compare a little closer than you think. Getting all that HP and torque to the rear tires of the SRT is next to impossible without taking out half an inch of tread. If you're not gonna lug your machine around in 2nd gear, then what's the use of a standard vs. auto tranny? Like maddog said, your set up is what counts. My 1/2 ton with the Fx4 and tailer packages tows my 24 footer and quad just fine. Sure the diesel would be better suited.

Back to the topic at hand, those nissan commercials are wicked. Total eye candy. Since we're talking about them, i'd say they're pretty successful ads.

I have a Nissan Armada eventhough its not a truck it shares the same power plant as the Titan. I love it. I compared other SUV's in its class and it simply out performs any other SUV in its class. I also have the off-road package with a 9100 lbs towing capacity, auto rear leveling systems, racho suspension and skip plates. Show me a domestic that can compare for the same price range.

I have also seen videos on the web Titan vs. Hemi.....sorry but the Titan kills the Hemi. It does not matter what the manufactor says it CAN do, what matters is what it DOES do in the real world. Hemis are over rated.....Hemi's can't "rumble" THESE....

I thought that commercial was pretty cool too - raises awareness anyways and looks like fun!
