Default was he lucky to live, or unlucky to be robbed?

hey all,
my nephew was fast asleep, on friday night around 4 am. bought a new house( only 22, am i proud) and lives alone, exept for the dog i got him for company. the dog( harvy darvidson, lol, his name) is a small terrior, who never barks, or bites. harvy got on him, and started biting, until my nephew got out of bed. as pete( my nephew) got into the kitchen, his door was kicked open. 3 masked men ran in, and put a gun to his head. they told him to get on his knees, and face the corner. he refused( thank god) and told them they have to look him in the eyes if they kill him. they held him for almost 1/2 hour as they stold his tax money, and all his stuff. almost 1/2 hour with a gun to his head. the real bad thing is, he reconized one of the voisces, and said the mans name. the man realized he knew him, and i cant beleave they let him live. they got him for thousands of dollars in stuff he saved forever to buy. along with over a grand in tax money.
he swears the dog saved his life. harvy never stoped biting the pieces of craps, and never stoped attaching. one man kicked harvy, and might of broken his leg. but harvy never stoped attaching them. the guys were high on what pete says was mind altering stuff, becouse of how they were acting. ( again, cant beleave he lived).
he called the police, and when they showed up, they hassled my nephew. they saw a 22 year old mexican man, with tatoos, and i am sure assumed he was a thug.( he lives in an all white neighborhood) they even went as far as stating that if drug deals go bad, maybe he needs to handle it himself.( pete works hard, and does not deal or do drugs!!!) pete made calls himself, and had gotten the names of the 3 men, and even recorded one of them admitting to it. the cops still have done nothing. now the guys want pete, to protect themselves. i am amazed the police wont help him. no finger prints were taken, and no arrests have been made. it is looking like i will have to handle this, and i have no problem doing so. an eye foran eye i always say. the police ststed the recording means nothing, becouse it is elegal to do. heck, it has one man admitting to it. go figure.
sorry so long, but i had to vent.

Dude, those cops suck. I am a cop and I can tell you that yes, the recording is admissable. According to federal law, a recording is admissable if one of the parties knows the coversation is being recorded. Meaning, obviosely, your nephew was recording it, so he knew about it. Those cops sound lazy as hell. My advise, go to the media in your area, tell them the story and they will put heat on the PD. Remember, threaten the top rankings first and poop rolls down hill. Worked for me before. Good luck and don't do anything to get yourself in trouble. Once you start with the media on the PD, you will be targeted for ANY minor infractions. Happens all the time.

wyobull, i always have respected the law. they are shocking me with this. i grew up living in that city, and have found the pd to be good. what is shocking is there refusal to help him out. they actually told us they could not do anything on sunday, becouse it was the weekend!!! once they ran his record, and seen he overdosed 4 years ago, they drew a picture. they have spent more time trying to get him to admit to something than even looking for these guys. they were given the tape, and 3 names. all spoken about on the tape. the one cop told pete to stop using the police for his elligal affairs! i hope something is done soon, becouse i will only wait so long before i protect my family. pete wont go home out of fear, and has had sleepless nights over this. it shook him up bad( understandibally so) no arrests have been made as of now, and not 1 warrent has been issued. when we call, they act like were bothering them. i have told pete to go to the media, and he is reluctant. he feels it will cause more problems than good. i will continue to try to perswade him.

Unfortunatly the law has to be taken into ones hands at some point, when all other options have been exhausted.

I would say very fortunate to be alive today. It was probubly because he did know at least one of them. Depending on the circumstances MrDumass may not be so dumb on this. I absolutely hate thieves more than just about anything.

Ah, yes, I would say extremely lucky Money and possesions can be replaced eventually, one's life can not. It sucks that, that had to happen.

if they held him at gun point and burned his new house down he would still be lucky to be alive, there is no price for a life. at 22 owning your own house is huge, and a person with that accomplished has alot going for them, id say to get your nephew a bigger dog.
