At 45, I avoid doctors at all costs.

Been seeing the same doctor for years (and years) now, so it's not so bad. Most times just call with the symptoms and he'll call something into the pharmancy. If that doesn't work, I have to make an appointment. Now hospitals, especially emergency rooms, that's another story.

thats funny. i avoid doctors at no cost the more you avoid them the less you pay. i dont need to spend X amount of dollars on a doctor when they are just going to tell me i have whatever illness and i need to take it easy for 2 weeks.

I absolutely DESPISE my doctor. He is an old man who has no idea what he is talking about. For the past 10 years, every time I go to him for something, his answer is take some Motrin and take it easy. I have gone to him for everything from insomnia to a sore shoulder (from a dislocation years ago) and he always makes it sound like I am a hypochondriac. I could see if I went to him on a weekly basis for something different, but in reality I see him maybe twice a year. I would rather suffer from my ailments than go see him again. I am going to switch over to my fiance's doctor after the wedding.

I hate doctors too except my proctologist. I go there all the time for thorough prostate exams. j/k! I'll die before giving some freek the opportunity to probe my private places.

Haven't been to a doctor in over 3 years. Have to be dying before I'll go. And even then it's because my wife won't get off my back. Bunch of dang quacks. I think half the US will become immune to antibiotics b4 they kill over.

Haven't been to the Doc in years. I do need to schedule an appointment for a check-up I guess. I usually wont go unless I cant recover on my own. I always try to tuff it out and let my body build up its immunities, adding vitamin C and Gatoraide to my diet usually helps me with colds and flu's.

It's rather interesting to see such a thread in these forums for its sheer irony alone. Everyone who has posted to this topic says they hate doctors and avoid them at all costs. Yet it relates to us all so closely. Our doctors are too us what we are to our quads. I recently suffered a small wrist bone fracture at the hands of the triple jump on my track. I immediately went to the doctor to seek the remedy. Not going would have been like hearing a loud knocking and grinding sound in the bottom of my cases and simply ignoring the noise without even inspecting the oil.

I would think we would all have an appreciation for doctors because they keep us running, so that if we keep our quads running, we can continue to ride them and have fun. But maybe that's just me.

Not that I love going to the doctor's, but there is a certain amount of respect to be paid. Could you spend 8 years in medical school?
