Default is it worth it?

Currently I drive an 88 jeep cherokee that is getting weak...

Recentlly I came across what I think is a really great deal. I found a 97 dodge ram 1500 long box for sale. I might be able to trade the bombardier for that and 1300-1700 in cash. ok now before you say something is wrong with the truck...here is the story behind it.

The truck was a DNR officers truck. it has 190k miles on it. The body is dented and scratched and the bed will need a spray in bed liner in it....Everything else seems great on it. I am going ot take it for a test drive soon hopefully and get a better feel for it.

what do you think about the deal?

One of the good things about getting one from a gov't agency is, they keep up on the the maintenance Of course, it probably has seen it's fair share of off roading too make sure you check the under carriage good and drive train including suspension. For the right price, it could be a great deal

I know how much the guy bought it at auction for...1400$ I also know that the dnr vechinles are taken care of very well, my dad serviced the truck in rice county for a good number of years untill he moved to south east minnesota. I have gotten under neither of the truck earlier and it seemed to be in pretty good conidition.
