I need some help with my Warn
Winch. I was pulling up stumps
Saturday out of my yard. One
particular stump was being
stubborn. So like an idiot I gave
a little slack in the winch cable
& gave her a yank, now it's broke.
I guess I stripped something. It
has enough power to wind the cable
back up under no load but that's
it. If I hook to a tree or
something it'll try to pull then
stops. It sounds like it's still
pulling but it's not. I took one
end off of it today and saw no
stripped teeth or anything. Only
thing that caught my eye was the
plastic teeth on the housing. Are
there supposed to be 2 rows of
them or one wide row? It looks
like this:

Did I void my warranty because I
didn't fill out that registration
card within 90 days? Someone
please help...I NEED MY WINCH!!!

Rambler, The same thing happened to me (twice, two bikes)and warn covered it under warranty. I had to take it to a local warn service outlet and they replaced the plastic cover and some gears. The guys who fixed it said it seems to happen a lot if you disengage (free)the spool and don't re-engage it correctly.
I did not send in my warranty card but as long as I had the bill it was covered.

I've stopped using free-spool and have not had any more problems.
