I have heard that, but I think it just means that they wont make them but you can still ride them. What do you mean by, how comparable will the new four strokes be? do you mean emmisions?

Wouldn't surprise me if they were outlawed for new production bikes. Also wouldn't keep me from riding older 2-strokes, because they rule (obvious when consider 250 2-strokes are VERY competitive against 450+ 4-strokes).

2 strokes are not going to be outlawed....... But they will have to pass a much stricter emission standard... Witch will do away with the 2 strokes we see today.....

As enFORCER noted, 2-strokes are not banned per se. However, small engine emissions have been tightened which will bring about the demise of the scavaging 2-stroke that's used today.

If you see 2-strokes in new quads after 2006, they won't be the same. They'll be a very technologically advanced motor with computer controlled fuel injection.

If you search around the forum, especially with my name in the author field, you'll see that this has been discussed for the last 2 years.
