Im getting a used truck this week and i found one i like, its a silver 1997 4x4 Dodge dakota l. bed, ext cab , nice interior, quad fits in the bed easily, has big *** tires on it and its not as small like a ford ranger but not as big and doesnt suck gas like a 250 or 2500, only problem is its stick 5sp.
i can learn stick easily but as my new full time vehicle would u choose stick over auto? please post i gotta figure it out soon, and only post if youre old enough to drive
thanx , o and it looks like we have alot of new members and i havent been on for awhile so welcome!

If you can manage your Preds clutch, then all you need to do is train your foot to do the same thing in the truck as your left hand on the quad. Stick can be a real pain if you have to commute in rush hour traffic but overall can be more reliable than an auto. I went with an auto for two big reasons, 1)the wifey can drive it 2)Easier to get home of I get hurt while out riding or something. BTW, that Dakota won't see much over 16/17mpg if it has big tires and all. Dodges are notorious for being gas hogs anyway.

If your just looking for a truck to haul your quad and be a daily driver, look for a 4 cylinder Toyota. Get 4wd 'cause these are pretty good for wheelin too. Dakotas are v-8s, or can you get them in a 6 too? Anyways, I can and do drive both manual and auto. Manual is good for sports car but auto is way more convenient generally speaking.

with the way gas prices are soaring go with manual better fuel mileage but then again it has big tires so that kinda cancels each other out. i got a fullsize 4x4 ext cab and i am pulling between 18-20 mpg driving average about 60 mph. the smaller trucks don't get any better of gas mileage to conceive having to make due with their smaller size in my book.

I prefer the manual over the automatic. Cuts way down on the "can I borrow your truck" thing. Check out the front end. I've had two Dakota's and that's the only issue I've had with them.

My dad's duramax get an average of 17/18 in town and on the hiway but he has his foot in it most of the time and also has a chip and exhaust that helps alot with fuel milege
