Default gel battery for cold weather?

I have a Suzuki Vinson 500. I live in North Pole Alaska. It gets down right cold here. -50 and -60 on occasion. I still ride until it gets to -20.

I have to park my ATV outside due to a much too large SUV in the garage. Can I get a battery that won't freeze up and die in the inclement weather?

My jeep runs an Optima Red top and an Orbital blue gel cell which dont freeze. Is there something like that out there for ATV's?

Default gel battery for cold weather?

I lived in Delta Junction for a little while. Got fairly cold there as well. Always used a light bulb and a blanket or and old heating pad to keep the bike warm so I could plaw and ride in the winter. The snow machine was fun but difficult to plow snow with.

I do not think they make gel batteries small enough to fit into the suzuki vinson. Might try checking into some sort of heating device for your battery and oil while you are at it.

I threw a blanket over the whole quad and stuck a 1000 or a 150 watt bulb underneath it. Always cranked slow from thick oil until I switched to synthetic. You might also want to get a battery trickler. It maintains the charge on the battery and in the process keeps it warm. It has been my experience that a well maintained battery that it kept fully charged is difficult (but not impossible) to freeze.

You can always park the large SUV outside and plug it in and put the toy in the garage.

Hope this helps.
