Default ATV Gas mileage

Has anyone ever figured out what kind of mileage they get on their ATV's?

Obviously mileage isn't a consideration when buying these toys, but I'm just curions.

Also, I think watching the mileage is a good way to determine how the engine is running. A sudden drop in MPG would indicate that something is wrong.

I just bought my quad, so I haven't had a chance to figure the mileage out.

I havn't figured out the mpg, but it would vary quite a bit depending on how your riding it. A lot more variation than a car would.

True, mud bogging would use way more gas than trail riding.

I know if Im just doing normal trail riding I can last a really long time on a tank of gas. But if Im racing around or whatever I can use up a tank in a hurry.

So without using a conversion chart or a calculater, I would guess that it would be approximately 40-50 mpg on the high side, vs 20-25 mpg on the low side.

The local police said that they have had quite a few inquiries regarding the licensing of atvs because of the cost of fuel. It's only $18 for the plate.

In colder weather, the milage can be really bad. My 450 foreman can barely do 12mpg. Between the cold and low speeds and tire spin, it really drops. The big polaris are about the same.

My Mojave would go 78 miles on 1.7 gallons of gas if I cruised mostly flat roads. My 400ex will go 55 miles on 2.0 gallons.

That would vary alot. Like mentioned above, it would vary by what kind of riding you would be doing. All I know is that my Bruin does get great mileage. I rarelly have to fill up, and I do alot of riding.

I think best would be 25-30mpg range. On all hard pack I can do about 200kms on 18 liters which is about 26MPG.
