There is a replacement for displacement !!!
January ATV Action........ Yamahas YFZ450R is faster than its own Raptor 700R (even though the 700 is EFI).
Just proves that in the modern scheme of things that DISPLACEMENT MEANS NOTHING, unless you are comparing engines of identical design.
Doesn't hurt either that the 450 is 50 pounds lighter than the 700!

And if you are going to, at least make it news. The yfz beat the raptor 660, ds 650, and kfx 700 back in 04 when it came out.
But the big bores all still have more potential than the yfz, despite weight disadvantages.

My point has nothing to do with either of these particular machines specifically. They did pick the Raptor as the better all-around machine (call it "potential" if you want), and they are probably right there.
Just trying to make a point about engine design in general, and this was a good example of the principle! That's all. Most buyers thing big displacement means the greatest speed.......they just don't understand.
And a for the issue of "magazine BS": I read it all but I don't believe any of it........just like this forum.
