no, cops use radios similiar to cb's but of a very higher frequency.... and a common cb has 40 channnels with exception on a higher and lower sideband. cb is considered 11 meter, frequency of 26-27 mhz, there are many other types of radios from 2 meter to 60, it is all on the frequesncy range.

two questions :

if i get one of those cheap cobra cbs at walmart.. will i be able to talk to people from cali during skip or something... and also i think there are those police interceptor radios.. which what price are they( if you know by anychance).. will they be able to be used as regular cbs?

oh and wahts a c band?

I found my CB at the dump in the swap shop, a cobra, and I can talk to people across the country.

my radio have 6 different bands on it and c band is on band lower than regular, so it is 40 channels below zero. and i dunno if u will be able to get california, it all depends on were u are, you willl probably get florida and texas and canada. from new jersey.

oh cool.. i might go out and buy one.. i forget how much they were at walmart but i tihnk around 50.. which is pretty cheap.. or i might borrow my friends since he said he bought one there and wanted me to get one.. but that was a year ago.. and he doesnt use it..

oh and whats the point of having the huge antenna you have.. and how can you a recorder built into the radio? sounds cool
and "scanners".. if i have one of them... will they actually be able to hear the police calls as they state?

yea a scanner usually picks up air,ham,fire,ambulance,police and cb and sometimes military like if your near an airbase or something. i have the big antenna because mine is in my house and not in a car. so if u have a radio in your house you sort of need a base antenna(18ft for 1/2 wave and 24ft. for 5/8 wave). and my radio has the recorder custom built into it so if plp are saying something i hold down a button and it records it and i hit another button and key the mic and it plays it back. also, i can record myslef if i hold the button and talk.

i have a CB on my bruin ..well i did but i took it off but i think i might put it back on
