Anyways, I have one for different reasons than you probably think. I'll come out and bash it, my 03' has the weakest motor out of all of them stock, and that is the reason the bike is highly underated.

2 strokes overrated lol its always the 2 strokes that are being bad mouthed these days even though they can beat a 4 stroke any time with the same size engine.

Plus I was being sarcastic.

A bone stock 250R may be overrated in power, but most arent anything close to stock anymore. The new generation of riders have very little experience and jump on a race bred machine off the dealership floor thinking they're easily a match for Gary Denton. (Well if any of them knew who he was they'd think that anyway ). Just because AMA decided to keep lifting four stroke restrictions until they could beat the 2 strokes doesnt mean the 250R's of old are no longer any good. The assoc wanted production classes and new riders, they made a business decision not a declaration that the R is no longer a viable member of the race community.
As for pred owners, well most that I've actually met are great guys. They dont spend 20 minutes telling me why their bike is better than "everyone says it is", they just start up and we ride together and others take notice. Maybe if you guys stopped whining about the credit your bikes dont get and just started to ride you could prove your point without saying another word. The bike is great, let it stand on its merits not your mouths.
The truth is we spend more time worring about which bike is the best than actually riding them to find out. Many people who support one brand/bike over all others or insist on the inferiority of any one bike or brand probably doesnt have enough, if any, personal long term experience to make any kind of authoritative statement. Not to mention the fact that whatver bike is deemed best today by one standard could easily be overshadowed tomorrow by a newcomer, then we'd all have to take the time to find out why we hate or love the new one and why the old bikes are better or worse.

ScooterGPX, I think I know that guy in your icon. It looks like my next door neighbor.
Maddog, did you have a point? Was that whining I heard?
Motox, just crankin' on ya. That's all, with this kind of topic I look forward to a little flaming. You know, like Yamaha Warriors suck for fourwheelers. That kinda thing.
B@R Warrior, as usual, I appreciate your sarcasm.

Maddog, this thread is just to give your opinion on what is the most over/underrated quad in your opinion. Not going to argue with you because this is just for fun. I could have listed about 5 in both categories but felt those 2 topped my list. It's JMO. Now let's hear what tops yours.

The comments werent made directly to your raptorlegs, it just so happens that your post fit in with much of what followed in your thread and is prevalent on this and other sites. I thought the tail end of my post was a thoughtful segway into why some of the views talked about in this thread are the way they are or appear to be. I dont see anything there that would constitute whining or any attack on anyone except for possibly an undesireable group or two.
As for over/under rated it all depends on your demographic. 14 year olds think their blaster will whip any banshee they see, while those who are over the hill and halfway back up it would be inclined to list bikes like the kfx 700 as the best of breed.
For the purposes of this thread I'll stick to the "performance / high performance" sport atv market and ignore utility bikes and smaller sports. I'd say that the most overrated atv is the yamaha raptor 660 and now 700, and most underrated would be the 400ex. Every raptor owner is sure his piped bike will beat all comers and those with engine mods can get excessively cocky. The 400ex is a pillar of reliability and built on a chassis derived from the 250R plus some improvements with excellent capability for performance upgrades. The bombardier ds650 also fails to get a lot of credit on these boards despite their proven ability to run with and beat the fastest oem chassis and cased raptors in the world not to mention they're great in stock form for those with open spaces to travel and a desire for a smoother ride.

Screw which bike is better. Run what you brung and lets go ride! I've run at the front, and run at the back. Sometimes I've barely been able to see the people I was trying to ride with they were so far out in front.
