As to my own defense, I never pointed any fingers at minors or adults who may or may not bash, type badly, or post time waisting topics and replies. Unfortunately, this does exist and there's probably nothing that can or will ever be done about it. Does anyone recall paying money when they registered?...NO. Therefore, anyone is entitled to enter and speak their oppinion. Has the quality dropped?... perhaps, but as stated above, many more readers are adding more topics and replies as time goes on...so maybe the quality hasn't dropped. The moderators have done an excellent job of rooting out all the crap and providing all readers with a quality forum. I, myself, have no intention of looking for another forum. The information and comradery in here is too much to just throw away. Perhaps, the only way to clean it up would be for the moderators to have a "no tolerance" polocy and edit all posts with such an attutude as bashing or opening up a chat room in the middle of a post topic.

ATV Connection.Com has a rule against bashing:

Before entering the forum, a list of guidelines is published. Among those is:

"Please refrain from swearing or offensive remarks."

If followed, the forum's guidelines would eliminate name-calling or trashing other members. There would still be disagreements, but they would be discussed, rather than argued loudly like children in a sand box.

I expect the moderators will start closing down topics which have strayed into personal attacks, or at least they will delete replies which have nothing to do with ATVing. However, until then, maybe we should just follow the counsel of another member of the forum. He told me recently that sometimes it's best just to ignore the personal attacks. "Just move on," he wrote, "and "Ignore the source." I think he was right (I wish he had told me sooner!).

Bob Pflueeb has made some great points about know--it-all arguments. You have probably read his famous caution: "All we do is ride ATVS!" Of course, he is right.

Jeremy, I have enjoyed your insightful comments. My oldest daughter is 17, so your comments about the younger members of the forum are well-taken. Look forwards to more of your posts.

Well, I need to get off the keyboard and back on my King Quad.

See you!

Noted with interest:

A poster, username "Lost 1," declared he was abandoning the ATV Connection Forum for another, because he was mistreated by the "clique of old-timers" here.

We're sure gonna miss him when he's gone!

P.S. Long may he "Crank It!"

MDelby's thread is about how other threads get derailed into personal bashing. As he noted, too many posts have nothing to do with ATVs or ATVing. I guess it is a growing problem, as shown by our good friend, TF's previous post.

Tree Farmer, you shouldn't worry about what someone said on another Board. I'm sure "Lost1" wasn't talking about you, or any of your buddies. Hope you don't let that bother you, or distract you from the subject of this board, which is ATVing.

Please don't shop around for another message board. That isn't why you were visiting the other board, is it? We need you here. You are irreplaceable - one of a kind. We all enjoy your vast wealth of knowledge and generous consideration for others' personal opinions.

TF, give my thanks to the guys. The new ATV web page, STEEL RIDERS got 105 hits on its first day on the internet. My guess is you and your close friends probably counted for two, maybe three of them.

Love you TF and have a Merry Christmas!

Some people (me included) like the `which one is faster` and `mine is the best` topics. I find them interesting, entertaining, and informative. I would leave the forum without them becuase it would be booring.

Bashing each others rides seems to be part of the sport, on the internet and in real life. Its the nature of the beast!

you know, all sports seem to be getting the same way. The "EGO" factor seems to be taking over. Isn't the whole idea to have a good time? Who cares what anyone rides or to what degree of expertise they ride at. Even a bad day of riding beats a good day at work..etc. If you take it so personal that you cant have a good time, you need to find something else. May as well enjoy it while we can. The damn environmentalist are trying to shut down most riding areas. no matter what we do, there will always be those out there that dont appreciate it and ruin it for the rest of us. Lets be happy that we are able to enjoy our machines and have a good time. There are those that never get to experience it.

I think quality has increased! Look at me and Max6x6 dude, we used to start fights left and right. We would post 10 posts in a week and 2 of them were not deleted. Now we are like civilized! I miss the old forum. It had a feeling of friendship and with this new one I miss all the old guys. Used to be one big family(sorta) and now its just big and stuff. Maybe its the season getting me down or somthing.

BTW-Not all the kids give bad posts!Evan Johnson's got SOME good posts I like talking in the 3rd person.
