I'm not trying to scare anybody with this but I am going tobring it to your attention.

Yesterday I received a file from a friend. The name of the file is "chestburst.exe". Now for the most part I have just been deleting all of these little
ditties this fall. But because of who sent this one I opened it! Yeah dumb I know and knew! The only thing I got was some sort of stupid error
message in a small window about a missing dll file.

Well I started having all sorts of crap happening on the system. For the most part Netscape was having a coranary! My mail system would freeze up
the whole computer when I attempted to get my mail and then again those lovely blue screens from uncle bills finest that mean nothing to anybody!

I ended up uninstalling netscape and reinstalling it. During the process I located this same file name in the windows directory. I killed it.

This file supposedly came from a site called Messagemates.com. They produce and distribute some of the many little mini games and the like.

Oh I had another one arrive or attempt to arrive today, and this time it was from me to me! It had a file named fborfw.exe attached to it. That file was
preventing me from getting my mail. The subject in that mail was the same as a recent mailing that I had done to myself. I e-mailed the page of site to
myself as a reminder.

At any rate, I don't think that my friend has any idea that he sent me anything!

But I do want all in here to know that if you do get a mailing from me with an ATTACHMENT by any name. Unless you are expecting it, delete it!
BTW Mcafee did not catch anything at all.

I got it too, the title was somthing about a Sportsman 335 and the message looked convincing. I deleted it though. Glad I did. I have got the Happy99.exe sent to me nearly 5 times now from people I know, it always says somting but quads, bikes, or cars in the subject so it looks real.

Be careful guys!

RoosKing...

FYI

Most of these recent viruses are transmitted by persons completly unknowingly! Had this one not disrupted my system the way it did I would not have even know it was there.

Happy99 was one of the early ones that would take your mail list and use it as send out targets. This latest one randomizes the list and then picks and chooses the next target.

Happy99 was such a joke in the first place! Meaning that all of a sudden here comes an email with nothing but Happy99.exe attached to it! Right after a valid messege from your friend! I did not fall for that one, not even the first time I saw it! I have never had a computer program bring me happiness! Some joy and recreation? Yes! But never happiness!

That one has been sent to me at least 30 times! I just inform the sender that they have happy99 and send them to a site to get rid of it!

So don't be quite so hard on those that may be the source of something like this to you. More likely than not they have no idea they even have it!

But folks, be careful. Especially these last couple of weeks of this year! There are a bunch of things out there waiting to play games with your life and system!!!

He is right, the guys sending the Happy99 virus don't even know they are sending it. I usually mail them and let them know they sent it, and they are shocked.

There is another one out circulating that I have got almost 5 times in the last couple days. I can't remember the name, but once it was from an e-mail forum some guys here might be part of. Another is prettypark.exe or somthing like that, that someone from these forums sent me.

I have never actualy got any viruses. I NEVER EVER open exe files sent to me, the only ones I open are ones I find and download myself, that are officially released by a reputable company.
